Exclusive: Former WNBA Star Kysre Gondrezick Sets Record Straight Amidst Allegations of Assault Involving Houston Rockets Player Kevin Porter Jr.

Former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick has broken her silence following reports of an alleged altercation with her boyfriend, Houston Rockets player Kevin Porter Jr., at a hotel in New York City earlier this week. Gondrezick’s representatives issued an exclusive statement to Baller Alert, shedding light on the incident and requesting privacy and respect during this challenging time.

“Ms. Gondrezick wants to express her deep appreciation for the public’s support and prayers. In regards to our client, much that has been written in the press attributing statements to her are misleading and inaccurate,” says Robert Hantman of Robert Hantman and Associates. “She has not granted nor released any statements on her own volition. She asks everyone to respect her privacy and avoid speculation as to what occurred and refrain from disclosing any misleading statements as to Mr. Porter.”

“She asks that the Press and all officials refrain from any judgement and speculation on this matter which will be rectified properly and with integrity. Thank you!”

Porter Jr. was arrested Monday morning and charged with assault and strangulation after cops received a 911 call about the alleged attack. He’s since been released on $75,000 bail.

Multiple news outlets reported Monday that Gondrezick had informed law enforcement that Porter had struck her repeatedly with a closed fist and forcibly choked her during the altercation. However, Gondrezick has contradicted these reports, asserting that she has not provided any verbal or written statement for prosecutorial purposes.

Additionally, some reports had suggested that Gondrezick sustained a fractured vertebra in her neck as a result of the alleged assault. In response, representatives for the former WNBA player clarified that Gondrezick had not given her consent for the release of her medical records. Instead, they claimed that information regarding her injuries may have been relayed by an officer who overheard discussions among medical personnel, rather than through direct statements from the doctors treating her.

Furthermore, Gondrezick’s representatives strongly refuted claims that her relationship with Porter was tumultuous and abusive. They insisted that such narratives were untrue.

“In no way does that represent what their relationship has been.”

Based on her statement looks like she might try to save him :francis:

I remember her when she was a HS standout here in Michigan. Weird seeing her in this situation :mjcry:

The Houston Rockets are working to trade guard Kevin Porter Jr. in the wake of his charges of felony assault and strangulation due to an alleged attack on his girlfriend, league sources tell The Athletic.

Those sources say the Rockets have contacted multiple teams offering draft compensation as incentive to receive Porter, who has the 2023-24 season guaranteed for $15.9 million in Year 1 of a four-year, $82.5 million deal. In deal scenarios using Porter’s contract, the Rockets would be using his salary to target a player under contract who can play immediately and help the team, league sources said.

The Rockets are keeping all options open with the future of Porter, a league source said.

With Houston’s biggest offseason acquisitions in place, signing Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in free agency and drafting Amen Thompson with the No. 4 pick in June’s draft, the Rockets are attempting to be far more competitive next season.

The NBA launched an investigation into Porter following an alleged incident Monday at a New York City hotel where his girlfriend suffered a fractured neck vertebra and a cut above her right eye.

Teams that consider taking on Porter’s salary via trade would have to keep in mind the optics of taking on a player under felony assault and strangulation charges. They would also have to weigh whether they’re receiving enough draft picks for essentially an expiring contract who they would likely waive immediately upon trade.
Porter was released Tuesday on $75,000 bail and is due back in court in Manhattan on Oct. 16.

The guard is not expected to attend Rockets’ training camp in early October, league sources say.

“The allegations here are horrific,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday. “No question about it. But I don’t know anything more about the actual facts other than those allegations.

“We’re still now in the process of gathering information.”

Two unprotected first round picks at minimum considering this trade benefits Houston more than anyone else and helps take the controversy off their hands.

The league should step in and send him home regardless of where he’s traded to.

I know, good luck with that, he might be getting suspended for a while
Depending on what they’re offering, I’d consider it if I was a team that had an extra contract to spare.

You get draft compensation and the league is going to suspend him anyways and you can always cut him after the season when his deal is non-guaranteed.
