Haven't peeped yet but he's reached a level of success where he can stand back, analyze, and see what's the proper move to make or not to make as far as his career goes. Especially with stand up when your hunger level or lack there of can make or break a comedy special

Y'all really gotta understand that Kevin is beyond being a standup comedian now, he's a brand/hustler at this point. He's not in it for he purity of comedy or anything like that any more, he's getting another bag based off of his name with standup specials. He's the Drake of comedy.

It wasn't as bad as expected. But it's still pretty mediocre. Found myself on my phone during the second half of it. He's just an average stand up comedian at this point, nothing clever or new. Just updated family stories... He just stays in his comfort zone which is ironic considering the title.

It made me wonder, has there been a comedian who has had big success doing movies but yet stayed sharp when it comes to their stand up? I think about Eddie Murphy, Chris Tucker, etc and their stand up career basically ended when their movies started doing numbers

I don’t feel as if Chris Rock has ever dropped a weak special. And he’s been doing movies for 30 years.

He’s the only one I can think of

Yeah, he was the one I was lil stuck on, but even though Rock did a lot movies I never really considered him a "Movie Star" myself. And none of his specials are weak but I felt it was a slight dropoff with the last couple. Still good and better than most though

I finally watched it today, it was solid a light 7/10. My only takeaway is a lot of his material is all 1first world rich person problems. So a lot people can’t relate and will tune him out. The part about his over 40 friends and their group chat was my favorite part.

only problem is that ages the work itself.

Yeah, i feel like anytime Dave or something current like that they releases a new special it feels more relevant to the current time. Which in turns makes it more of a "special" to me, instead of just some unreleased jokes he may written for the last two specials.

Rock is the closest answer but he never really got to THAT level as far as his movies went.
