Devils Advocate for a moment considering the woman in Pittsburgh manhandled by the Arab pizza shop manager. That manager was criticized for taking matters into his own hands instead of calling the police to handle. One of the arguments made was that he would have never put his hands on a man like he did that woman and so he should have called police.

In this case the Starbucks manager did call police after the two men who weren't buying anything refused to leave. Granted that manager didn't use common sense and sound judgement. He could have acquiesced and let them use the restroom and wait for whomever they were to meet there. Still though, he asked them to leave and they refused. Why not step outside the store then file a complaint, go to social media or whatever. Was it raining or something? The officers came and they still wouldn't leave. The irony of getting arrested by a Black officer at that.

I'm sorry but I think all the parties involved sans the police acted retarded in this instance.

Another stockholm sufferer.
Using a starbucks how it is regularly used isn't acting idiotic or retarded.
That you go out of your way to justify black men being treated unfairly by Starbucks and illegally by the police speaks volumes.
Unless you aren't black and are just a white supremacist that exposed yourself.

This place is such a joke when it come to discussions on race relations nowadays. No objectivity. No nuance. Just one way anecdotal bullshyt .

“c00n” “tap dancing negro”

First, he’s 100% right. Mainly because Starbucks is a franchise and each individual location is likely to have a different feel to it, depending on the owners. They’re all technically “Starbucks” under the same umbrella, but at the same time they’re different businesses.

It’s not like the H&M situation. H&M is a chain, and not a franchise, which means each and every H&M you go to is owned and operated by the parent company.

There are Starbucks franchises that are black owned, so boycotting that makes no sense.

Secondly. We haven’t even shown the capability to stand in unison on far more serious issues. And if we’re all going to work together on something,’do it for something that actually matters. Not boycotting a fukking coffee franchise.

Third and final point, stop reacting off of emotion. There’s literally nothing “c00n” about what he said. You guys act like 7 year olds who just discovered their first curse word and then start using it at the most inappropriate, unfitting times. He had an opinion, which I and most people with a shred of objectivity would agree with.

But continue :hubie:

So you have the right to enter business establishments, not purchase anything, use their bathroom and they should be okay with that? If they ask you to leave that makes them wrong? You're an idiot if you think the police acted illegally. :mjlol: This is one of those rare instances where I can't fault them , and their chief went above and beyond to be transparent . The manager warrants blame for not being reasonable and using common sense as I mentioned earlier. However to be fair to him he followed procedure as directed by store policy.

But hol up. Sbux is on RECORD saying the employee followed the proper procedure by calling the cops. Then they put out a statement saying they are "disappointed" by the outcome. How you disappointed if your manager followed YOUR procedure. Racist company

There's absolutely nothing wrong with their procedure.

If you watch Live PD or cops or even go places, plenty of times officers roll up if things are getting hot and they talk to both parties and the resolution is amicable.

Nobody leaves in cuffs, nobody goes to jail.

Its actually one of the most common occurrences. Some fool is at McDonald's refusing to pay for his food saying he wants it free cause they fukked up, or he has a coupon etc, cops roll up :upsetfavre: you gonna pay or not? You gonna leave or no?

Only if those fools who are usually drunk start trying to wrestle they cops do they ever get cuffed.

Of course being black means that officers need to be extra careful even though their facebooks will show them skydiving, hugging a lion , etc but being in the mere presence of a black male damn near stops their heart with fear. They cuff us when we call them :martin:.

Maybe I've lived in cities where it just ain't worth the extra paperwork and the cops are lazier but bar districts, restaurant districts cops were never cuffing or arresting people for 'trespassing'.

If the officers would have asked the Starbucks employee "Whats wrong?" Then asked the two guys "Whats going on?" There's no reason they couldn't have told the employee "everything's fine call 911 if anything changes and we'll come back" or just had 1-2 officers wait outside for their friend to come. These punks wanted to be supercops and exert their authority and enforce the law to the fullest permissible extent. A total lack of common sense.

Yes a bathroom is a basic human necessity. We don't piss and shyt on the street because we are a so called civilized society .

I've went and pissed at target, didn't shop, didn't buy anything. Did I violate some social norm or code?

It is human necessity and no you didnt violate a social norm but businesses have the right to decline your use of the bathroom room hence having to ask for a key at certain places like gas stations. Not to be argumentative, but big stores like Target typically don't do the key thing as the restroom is open to whomever walks in. I can give an example of a big store that does the opposite though with Best Buy . I needed to use their restroom but was told it was for employees only. I drove up the street to Barnes & Noble and used their bathroom. Irony is there's a Starbucks inside that B&N.

Point is every place is different and its their own individual rules. Don't like it, go somewhere else.
