Let's say Durant goes to NY. I don't really follow the Knicks like that...but would KG make them contenders? Or is it more likely to implode due to Carmelo being selfish.

Melo may be a lot of things, but selfish isn't one of them.

He's gonna do the one year deal thing and do this all over again next summer. I could see both him and Russ leaving next summer if they aren't able to win this season
