Connections are necessary period in the business world, and they just don't come around cause you're a superstar athlete. Even billionaires need connections sometimes. The Kanye example is on point cause Ye was trying to use his celebrity as a way to leverage his way into the fashion industry and they shunned him. You're implying KD could just muscle his way through the tech industry cause he a superstar and they would be in awe and bend over for him. Don't work like that. Lacob has his hands in a lot of ventures and it's nothing for him to put KD around some of those same people. LeBron can do it with a phone call. Just knowing that someone of KD's stature is looking to invest is going to open just about every door there is, especially from start-ups looking for investors.

The Kanye example is off because KD isn't trying to start a new Microsoft. He's investing HIS money in OTHER ventures. Kanye would be comparable to Lonzo and Lavar as their trying to compete with the big dogs. Very different from what Durant is doing with his investing at least at this point.

Introductions are fine, but KD and his team could've done it on their own. Instead they trusted Lacob to put them in touch with people. Which is fine, but it wasn't "necessary" and Lacob would've still been inclined to do if KD hit him for the max.
