He's not and that's OK. But I wish they'd stop painting the narrative that he is. Everyone knows AI wasn't a good defender but AI got credit for playing the passing lanes. Let Lebron get his help, weak side team defense accolades.

That's a horrendously fukking stupid qualifier. A lockdown defender is a lockdown defender. Was Carmelo not an elite scorer? Is DeAndre Jordan not an elite rebounder? Nobody is grading on a curve based on other skills. Either you are or you're not. LeBron doesn't have to be considered the best at every single fukking thing on the court
It’s not a stupid qualifier because the point I’m trying to make is that historically speaking superstar wings, the kinds that can lead teams to championships, had too much of a burden to carry in all other aspects to focus on being “lockdown defenders.” Like yes Draymond is incredible at what he does but especially because so little is asked of him in all other parts of the Warriors system that he can concentrate solely on defense.

It is a dumb qualifier. There's no excusing it or explaining it away. Or a "he could if he wanted to". There's just the question: is LeBron James a lockdown defender? And the answer is no. You're basically saying so yourself.

I don't get why people are so upset about this. This is just something that's not part of his skillset yet his fans INSIST on it being included because he is a very good help defender. It's crazy.

Saying LeBron is a lockdown defender is like saying LeBron is a knock-down shooter. It's just not true. Doesn't stop him from being one of the greatest players of all time but a legit criticism if people wish to use it in terms of him being the greatest. It's a weakness in his game just like everyone else has weaknesses.

You’re shaking with anger at your keyboard like I said LeBron is a lockdown defender when I never did. He’s not. But pretty much no Tier 1 wings are. That’s literally my point. :mjlol:

Anyone with eyes knows this.

Can't wait for someone to show LeBron on D-Rose as evidence though :heh:
Bron fans love saying that bull. The heat defense was more a team defensive scheme and other factors than just "cause Bron"

Rose was our only offense weapon. It was easy for Heat to plan a defensive plan to stop us(which all they had to do was surround him when he did anything) as Rose was the offense

Plus Boozer was trash

And Bosh was killing us

I’ve seen Bron lock down Schröder , Kemba , KP and Blake in the same month ...idk what y’all want that man to do to be considered a great defender :francis:
I believe that was October? Contained his best stretch of defense in a minute

That 4th quarter against the Knicks, he had KP shook (scared to death, scared to look)

I've had you mad since jump

Someone pull up when Bron had D Rose in a straight jacket in the 2011 playoffs
And you've been trying to cape and spin in different ways ever since.

Now it's "b-b-b-b-but no one is a lockdown defender :sadbron:"

There's a major facet of the game LeBron is average or downright horrible at. Sometimes so bad at it, it causes his team to lose championships.

Kenyon Martin is 100% right in his assessment, and no amount of spin or deflection on y'alls behalf changes that.
