Nope...

Thats not what he said

"James Bonding with none of you nikkas, climbing 100 mil in front of me
And I'm gonna get it even if you're in the way
And if you're in it, better run for Pete's sake"

and
"I'm usually homeboys with the same nikkas I'm rhymin' with
But this is hip-hop and them nikkas should know what time it is

And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller

I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you nikkas
Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you nikkas
They don't wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you nikkas"

Based on the context of the lyrics that the competition is in the context of Careers

He said words that insinuate killing the careers of his peers

Ur tryna make it mean something it dont...

U want it to mean "It means its about murderin dem on some collabs"

But Kdot's song when u look at it in the context of teh lyrics u see its about murdering these rappers' careers

If you didn't understand THE INTENT then you need to do your homework, because obviously you do not know SH*T about the hip hop culture!

NEVER been the case?:why: The homie just gave you a specific example on John Blaze with Nas spitting "nikkas is this and that/I'm just the best" and Pun countering with "You ain't even in my clasa" on the SAME track.

Nas and Jay-Z been on the same track going at each other twice. "Pardon the rest of my nikkas/but I'm the BEST who ever did it" and Jay countering with "the realest shyt in hip hop comes from MY voice box"

Outkast, two nikkas who GREW UP together were competing and throwing shots at each other on The Mighty O. Again this isn't anything new within the genre, it's Competition at the highest level. If Drake wants to wimp out then that's on him, but don't afford him any excuses on some "real nikka" shyt when he's being ANYTHING but.

Again this is the SAME nikka who bragged about "killing everybody in the game" on his sophomore album. Who claims he's the greatest of his generation. When you out that crown on your head somebody's gonna come to behead you and claim your spot. Kendrick just dispensed with the bullshyt and made his intentions clear. It's not even about "beef" it's about being the BEST and being able to challenge those you view as your equals and rivals.

nikka..are u not gettin what im sayin :why:
When did I ever say collabs excluded the aspect of one upsmanship

That was not my point nikka
I said..never in hip hop did rappers make diss records all for this "hip hop is friendly competition lets spar" idea that nikkaz keep talkin bout
Every and anytime nikkaz dropped diss records there was real tension behind em
Its only in this soft ass era that nikkaz want WWE matches on wax
That reach of Jay and Na sgoin at each other on the same track :heh:
both of them say they hot on the same track =/= them goin at each other nikka
nikka u full of it

I guess in that case Big sean got at Kdot and Jay on Controlin his verse then huh? :stopitslime:

Point being..

ITS ONLY IN THIS SOFT ASS ERA THAT nikkaZ IS CALLIN FOR WWE STYLE DISS RECORDS ALL FOR THE SAKE OF "SPARRING"
WHEN HAS THAT BEEN PART OF THE GAME IN THIS RAP SHTGTFO WIT DAT BULLSHT :childplease:

Drake can claim to kill everything cuz he the hottest nikka..
In the same context Kdot spoke of on Control in being the hottest in the game
Both of them laid out where the competition lies..and that is in relevance, recognition and impact which have to do with the careers and sales and accomplishments etc.
Also its funny u keep bringin up Drake not droppin diss records when Kdot who is suppsoed to be in the forefront of this movement basically opts out when a plethora of MCS drop PERSONAL disses towards him and dismisses it with a "gotta try harder"....stannin real hard ain ya breh :lolbron:

Fact remains Kdot said he gon kill these nikkaz careers and be the hottest out??

Well Drake got that double plat status by his second release..lets see if Kdot can do the same then :shaq:

Since it is COMPETITION :youngsabo:

Kendrick doesnt need Drake to sell his album. :russ: Thats what Swimming Pools was a number 1 rap record and Poetic Justice was NOT! fakkit feeling himself too much. Time to deflate this clown. None of his records say shyt. Just regrets of lost loves, adjusting to fame, and dealing with haters. Who doesnt nikka. Stop it.

Exactly generic boasts aren't the same as kdot blatantly calling names saying hell end your career whether he meant it or not
It was just a creative way of saying "I'm the best"
Ok but he said drakes name clearly why should drake be ok with that ? He might not be mad but why help the guy who said he's trying to take all your fans and make sure they never want to hear from you again

drake really lost

hopefully his 4th album will be great this time
Really ??? His career >>>>> kdots by a long shot . His rap Grammy alone shows drake gets critical acclaim

The difference is blatantly saying the name of the person and saying you'll end them and making boastful claims like big Sean made in the song
drake will never win as long as he keeps dropping decent albums
Again he's dropping successful , well reviewed , Grammy winning albums so how is he losing

Breh drakes losing because they don't like him . In they eyes he could go diamond but they'd still say oh he didn't drop a better album . But let him outsell drake with a mediocre album damn sure they'd bring up sales
yes guys KDot literally meant he wants their careers to end :comeon:
He put names on I'd be offended too especially if you though you was his boy . Then thing he feels a kind of way then daps you up like it's all love showing he was attention whoring
That's typical rap bragging ..... Until you attach my name .
K Dot got an instant classic first major label debut critically acclaimed and platinum.. Drake on his 3rd trying to play catch up.. That ether make your soul burn slow :umad:
Oh so your a kdot Stan Huh cool

I'm a big fan of both of them, for real. Probably Drake more so as I've been followin that nikka for longer, n i grew up watchin his ass on Degrassi. But dude is acting hella hurt and that shyt.....aint hip-hop, breh. He soundin like Taylor Swift in these interviews, man.
Not really . He sounds like kdot ( his reasoning for not responding to anyone who dissed him back ) despite saying he wanted to bring this element to hip hop.

Really ??? Don't bring up any kind of sales when comparing drake and kdot your stanning going too far . That's very stupid to say , those are real life issues . What you want to hear about Syria ?? What makes kdot so deep ? Rapping project windows stories ?

drake really needs to step his game up after so many disappointing albums.
won't even try to discuss this guy until he drops his first GREAT album, I don't care if it sells or not (because even trash records can sell with the right promotion), I want something that is objectively good, something that you can dissect... The fact that he doesn't have a single album into the "great albums" debate speaks volume on his limited talent

You right that it is not like pac biggie beef.... But It was not like How to rob either .... 50 cent was malicious with it.... Kendrick was not malicious... Kendrick just said that he was competing with his peers who are also friends.... it is just like Carmelo is trying to murder Lebron when they play eachother but they still boys off the court .... Drake is too sensitive .... him being raised by a single jewish mother pops out from time to time.

Remember when Kanye made that Big Brother song about Jay Z off the graduation album.... If Drake was Jay Z in that situation, he would have flipped out. Eventhough it was nothing malicious.

Who's up for that rap Grammy this year? Who's the likely winner?

@23statcity I think you may be missing the point of being competitive AND collaborative. Mattafact, a lotta heads in this post are missing that point. The real beauty of an art form like hip-hop and what Kendrick did is that it INVITES competition WITHIN collaboration, much like sport. The first Dream Team, according to Jack McCallum's book, had their most competitive game against EACH OTHER. Magic led the Blue Team and MJ led the white.

At that point, Magic and Larry Bird both were :flabbynsick: but MJ knew them to be top-level competitors and he was :childplease: and took it to them in practice frequently. Neither of them backed down or felt hurt by it. They felt it elevated them, especially at that time in their careers when they both saw him taking over the league and wanted (maybe) one last shot.

Drake is showing, with these replies, trying to diminish to "Control" effect and all the while saying he "loves hip-hop" and the competition (I mean, the nikka admitted in TWO interviews that he watched URL TV and Smack regularly, chills with Hollow Da Don)... and also saying that he doesn't "respect the sentiment" of the Kendrick verse -- he's showing he's ALL THE WAY in his feelings about it. Which is it, bruh? Do you wanna compete, load that gun and fire it backwards? But when someone comes at you like that it's :to: ? What that bout?

@Napoleon you have made great points about Drake being a worthy artist, worthy of respect and attention. But I think even you'd admit that he's been issuing conflicted statements about competition -- both on the record and off. He's clearly got some nerves around this Kendrick thing, and it must rattle him somewhat that, on the heels of his most concentrated work, people are talking about someone else NOT named Do Right And Kill Everything. He might even be wondering if he has the shelf life he so aspires for.

And this ain't coming from a Kendrick "stan" or whatever. I'm one of the people who believes there are several rappers in the game who could BODY Kendrick with a verse, Drake being one of them. But I also believe Drake views him as worthy competition, an equal peer and potentially someone who could best him. I think that's evidenced by the fact that he put Kendrick on "Buried Alive" but stepped nowhere near lacing his own verse there. He doesn't even want to take the RISK of not looking as good. That's not MJ-level competition or Magic-Bird level competitive camaraderie.

That's just ho sh*t.

Respect 'em both, but it is telling that only Aubrey Graham has taken exception to Kendrick's verse enough to swear off working with him. :mjpls: He was ALL OVER Kendrick's work when he was on the rise, enough to PUT HIM ON HIS BEST ALBUM TO DATE... he does no favors. That was a strategic move to up his profile.

It backfired and now that n*gga scrambling and doing the Toronto two-step like he don't care. :usure:
