Not one to give a fukk about list, but at first I could understand if he didn't list "Illmatic"; he is a young dude from the west, but then I saw he had Ready To Die, and I've come to the conclusion that I don't understand the list. Good list though

It could be:

1- it's his personal opinion...

2- he could actually like Illmatic but doesn't have a connection to it like the ones he named.

3- Ready to Die's reach and popularity in '94/'95 was further than Illmatic's, so the chances of a 25 year old hearing this album a lot during his childhood are probably better.

I would respond to your post points, but ur Avi says it all. The bias on your side would fail to make a dent in your judgement.

Only there's no bias, and I actually like Illmatic more than Ready To Die, and I could probably recite the damn album word for word including adlibs... so yeah try another angle.

I'm 33 and from the West. I bought Illmatic when it dropped, listened to it alot that year and thought it was pretty damn dope. Nobody was rhyming on that level, shyt was like lyrical magic lol.

I also got RTD as a free promotional CD shortly after it dropped and only played it because of the hype Big was getting. shyt was just ok to me on the 1st few listens(mainly because of the beats). Then all of a sudden I couldn't stop listening to this shyt. The clever\witty rhymes, the flow, the story telling, the griminess. I memorized every lyric on that bytch.

All that to say that Illmatic wouldn't make my top 25 favorite albums either, whle RTD would. I couldn't tell you the last time I even thought about listening to Illmatic, while I always give RTD spins in my old school rotation.
