Decided to let this album play for a week while I ride around the A., before I made any final judgement on this project.

-- Mortal Man

Fukking dope. Might be his best song.

-- Other points...

A little too much singing, plus it sounded over-produced. The song where he says "yall Boo-Boo" ..he killed that third verse.

He showed a lot of different styles.

The Blacker the Berry is a banger. That shyt gets me amped.

Alright probably is the best hook/single type track on the album.

I didn't like the beginning of the album. All of the songs from track 5 to the end are dope.

The album is dense and it took awhile for me to process what I was hearing. It has weak songs, but that's ok. At the end of the day, it's probably a classic.

Kendrick won….probably Aftermath's greatest artist and he is only on album #2. :ohhh:

Note Kendrick did the smart thing, he didn't get caught up in saying "lets go to the trap house" "let's ride on our enemies"
"We popping bottles all night"

Whether you like the album, that isn't important, your reaction is all that is important. He designed this album to sound unlike anything on the majors, I am pretty confident K could've done something w/ the same producers, stock sounds.

I bet this hurts a lot of rappers out there who have had label deals and you went the opposite, you went w/ the same producers & the same subject matter & themes. They didn;t understand one thing: Kendrick knows he can influence the next because they aren't just enjoying the music, the PEOPLE are listening.

And yea your boy may clown you in the studio for doing something different, but guess what? You won't like yourself as an artist if you just go w/ the flock, if you have the goods to give something interesting to the game, do it, no matter what the cost.

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
"Momma" legit fukks with my American head. I looked at a position to relocate to South Africa a few years ago and passed.

I hate myself for that.

I've never been to Africa. But I already know the day I touch the soil I'd probably break down and cry like a newborn baby.

Not knowing my true heritage or what I am. It just fukks with me.

Man, can we just talk about the little moments we like with this record?

On Institutionalized, I anticipate those 4 flute notes during Grandma's talk:

around 3:38 :blessed:

Little things like that really do just stand out to me brehs.

And the troll voice after the end of the 3rd verse, "and how she fukkin on a famous rapper...WALLS COULD TALK" :troll::umad:

:mjlol:

:sadcam:

I might be late as fukk realizing this. But l think kendrick is talking to the cat that murdered his best friend Dave. If yall remember GKMC, Kendrick speaks on him. Daves killer was arrested and is servin life. And Kendrick apparently was smashin that nikkaz chick. "If these walls could talk" takes on a whole new level of significance:whew:

The intro and hook to How Much A Dollar Cost and the Ronald Isley Hook at the end :wow:

The jazzy musical outro to Blacker The Berry:blessed:

The Jazz music playing during Pac and Kendrick's conversation :banderas:
