Okay, so that's one of Drake's best songs, but he still ain't talking about no real shyt. Drake talks about his family and friends, but he don't say shyt about society or black people's issues

Last time I heard Drake talk about race, was when he said "My white friend just said you nikkas crazy, I hope nobody heard that" :dahell:

but Kendrick's the c00n, ha? :comeon:

Or that time when he said that he wished that Justin Bieber would've said "nikka" when he covered "Marvin's Room"

The message of the song is the definition of c00nish behavior.
you wastin your time fam, long as the track dope nikkas don't care bout nothin

there's a very gray area when it comes to taking these rappers words seriously, some days thecoli seriously gives a fukk, other days they don't

looking through this thread, i think it depends on the rapper :mjpls:

when any other person brings up the black on black shyt they get roasted to oblivion in here...but today, not so much :sas2:

I appreciate the Black Love he's giving throughout the song. That part is dope

But the overall theme is basically "We're hypocrites because we do fukked up shyt so how can we be upset about white people killing us" which has so many holes in that theory that it's laughable that he thought such an elementary concept was worthy of spewing. The beat is dope the aggression is dope, the black love shyt is dope. But that overall concept irks me and basically tells me he can't differentiate between gang violence and getting killed by a cop or a Cac. Both are sad, but there's main differences. One being, for the former, the perp is usually always arrested, convicted and spends the rest of their lives in prison. The latter are arrested, acquitted and supported and financially backed to the point they can retire.

One can interpret that line of him solely speaking on gang bangers and the ones in the community killing blacks and not the average ordinary black person. What he's basically saying "black life is black life no matter what race the murder was." We can agree-disagree on this.

As for the second bolded that may be true, but this song is DEFINITELY NOT in my opinion a definition of c00nish behavior. Definitely not on the level of what artist such as Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Pharrel and others like them have said and done. Misinformed/ignorant on subject? We can agree. Full blown c00n? Disagree.

Edit: I think like someone just mention he was just referring to himself.

I'm just not that into Kendrick sonically most of the time. This ones not for me on that level either. I respect that he's got a message though.

So it's not hypocritical for someone who is tripping on the Trayvon incident or any of these incidents to go all apeshyt when they themselves are committing murder of blacks too?

I took it as him speaking from the pov of someone who has murdered his own people before but was going crazy over the Trayvon situation.
