Nas has a two part song where he kills his cheating girlfriend, commits suicide, has his soul debate with God and returns to earth as a heavenly Prophet.
Amongst Kings but whats the others?

It’s hilarious because all of Kendrick’s albums have substance to a degree that these guys are labeling as “smart”. But we were feeling those albums what makes THIS album different now that we aren’t feeling it as much as his previous albums?
I'm a big Kendrick fan and actually love the album but I think the difference is that this album ain't got straight bangers. A lot of people listening to music view the subject matter and lyrics secondary. They don't give a fukk about that if the song don't bump. His old albums still had tracks that flat bumped while that's missing in this one IMO.

I don’t get the, “I’m the best rapper in the game” lyricism from him on this. I think tracks like N95, Die Hard, Rich Spirit, silent hill and savior are dope radio joints.

If this album isn’t as good as TPAB or DAMN then technically he fell off.
I feel like there’s a clear fall off when it comes to the commercial tracks. He approaches them in such a weird, almost trivial way bordering on parody at time. I get that people really liked Kanye’s That Part verse, or Future on King’s Dead but that “audience reaction” stuff can’t work every time. It’s just weird hearing how he approaches Silent Hill, which I like, and then Kodak immediately comes in with a better verse/flow that fits. I like Kendrick’s first verse on there but the second is kinda like…so you’re not gonna rip this beat huh. Or the last verse on Rich Spirit with the “brother” stuff. Or Purple Hearts where Ghost has the more memorable verse.

I don’t get it. Even on Savior, arguably the best rapping song on there besides Father Time, I wouldn’t say that’s some next level shyt. Or on the level of his rapping on his last albums. To me he was clearly the best rapper off GKMC and TPAB. DAMN he was on fire, not sure I’d say the best but again…no one could deny he was ripping shyt. But now I don’t see how you can argue he’s better than Cole at rapping. And it pains me to say that. Or some other guys.

J.Cole eats Kendrick alive lyrically. It's like Big would demolish Pac lyrically but Pac could make music that made you feel a certain way. Pac's lack of lyrical ability in comparison to Big didn't really make him inferior his strengths just were elsewhere.

Kendrick experiments with different flows and sounds on this album. In a way that J.Cole doesn't do as much. Lyrically J.Cole has consistently improved through his career. I don't know if Kendrick is as much focused on lyrics right now. Sounds like in the making of this album he hit a rough patch.

Sooo what's up with the thorned crowns? What is this guy trying to say?
On the album he basically crucifies himself while declaring that he’s not a savior. Just a flawed man like everyone else, while lamenting that people will praise you until you can’t do something for them (Crown).

The crown of thorns was used to mock Jesus in the Bible, like you say you’re the king well here’s your crown. So I don’t think there’s any claim of divinity here from Kendrick based on the album.
