It's really difficult to say Kendrick is overhyped.personally I feel Kendrick is overhyped
but anybody that dethrones Kanye's bullshyt hold on the game I'm all for.
It's really difficult to say Kendrick is overhyped.
GKMC is the last album everyone from the streets to the critics to even the whites knew it was an instant classic. It's like a timeliness diverged after that because everyone's been divided on every album after. Rap community treated it like a tragedy when he didn't win the Grammy for it.
I can say that he dropped the last universally accepted classic.
TPAB won a fukking pulitzer.
The only way Kendrick is overhyped is if you have him as the greatest hip hop artist by a country mile. And even then it's pretty easy to see why he has a top 5 case when he retires
18 pgs for a album ya'll aint heard a solitary note of?
I'm ready for the album too but sheesh.
This is an easy 500 page thread in the making.
Which is still crazy to me, like I literally don’t get it lol..Damn won the Pulitzer not TPAD.
Which is still crazy to me, like I literally don’t get it lol..
Kendrick is the only rapper to win a Pulitzer..period, above all of these other classic rappers and rap albums that have defined the genre, and instead of giving it to TPAB, they give it to the only Kendrick Lamar album that you can say sounds generic..
Not Section 80.
not GKMC
not TPAB
but you give the Pulitzer to DAMN
I edited my original post to expand on it a little bit, but I meant it’s more generic compared to his other projects in the sense that it doesn’t feel expertly crafted like his others, I’m not saying it doesn’t have some great tracks on it because it obviously does like the ones you listedI don’t think an album with DNA, XXX, Fear, and Duckworth could be called “generic” at ALL but I do agree I was surprised that TPAB didn’t get that Pulitzer as its head and shoulders the more “profound” album of his from a writing perspective.
