Agreed that it's not touching GKMC, TPAB or S.80...but eh, I think I'm ranking it above DAMN. That album didn't do shyt for me. Aside from "Element" and "Duckworth".

I'm one of the people who really loved Damn, I personally got a lot of replay value from that album and still listen to it often to this day

Kendrick is so far ahead of his peers when it comes to production, lyrics, and concepts. I’ve listened this album front to back around 5-6 times now and it gets better every time.

Sonically the album is beautiful. You can tell the Festival scene has played a huge influence on Kendrick, with all the beat switches. Kenny is one of the best at finding those types of beats. I just love how experimental Kendrick is with it all. From the production, to his lyrics, to his flow, and his voice. Nothing sounds traditional, he engages the people to listen to every aspect of the song.

It’s easily album of the year thus far and album ahead of its time once again. This might be his best album :obama:

As funny as that excerpt from that interview is, it’s unfortunately part of the problem in our culture. We borderline make fun of the stuff we probably need to hear and opt for Future. I mean I’m listening both as well, but there’s a time and place to appreciate and digest both I guess. :manny:
This is always the excuse. Artists have always made good music with good messages. Including Kendrick. This just wasn’t hitting.

I wasn’t really making an excuse or defense of the music, to each their own. I was more so speaking on nikkas attitudes towards the messages.

From the jump when I heard this I knew it was probably seen unanimously near the bottom of his catalogue and doesn’t have the singular track replay value that his other albums do. And honestly that doesn’t seem to be what he aimed for. Still a great piece of music in it’s overall form through and through, in my opinion anyway.
