FINALLY I CAN fukkING RESPOND

On the subject of sales.

It seems to me with the absolute mainstream takeover of streaming that the following is how we should view first week sales from this point forward…

1). Anything between 50-70k means your “popular”. 100-250k means your a “Star”. If you crack 300k and above your a “Superstar”

2). Kanye West should be given props for cracking 300K with Donda and having a MAMMOTH roll out with the listening events. The album was mid and won’t go down as anywhere NEAR his best work, but he’s still a superstar and that cannot be argued

3). J.Cole’s commercial viability should NEVER EVER be questioned by ANYONE EVER again. No matter if you love him, hate him, think he’s boring, think he’s “fake deep” or whatever. That man did better numbers with only TEN songs and pretty much the same strategy of Kendrick’s rollout.

4).Doing 286K with no hit single and a concept album centered on breaking through depression and black generational curses after a five year break is a W. But its a W tempered with the realization that Kendrick isn’t a superstar who can break 300K off his name alone. I predicted he’d do on the upper end of 350-400K, ESPECIALLY after The Heart Part 5 song and video performed so well. But casual and mainstream fans want bangers and something they can bump in the whip, especially during the summer. Thats why Damn and GKMC returned to the top 20. People still fukk with Kendrick, they just wanted something more accessible.

4). I’m predicting Kendrick comes back next year with his first PGLang album. Something more akin to Damn, now that he’s got this album off of his chest he’ll want to re-establish that he can make hits. Meanwhile this album will still go
Platinum and still clean up at all the rap categories at the Grammys, but it’ll be one of those albums like Marvin Gaye’s “Here My Dear” that people come back to years later and recognize it as a classic.

Sheep will always have excuses for Kendrick. And Kendrick will always hate on Drake blatant or indirect, cause he knows, musically he'll never move Drake out the way.

I can finally post again after almost 2 weeks, Jesus. This album phenomenal and only behind TPAB and DAMN. to me. It might overtake DAMN overtime, but gotta let that one marinate. His discography is hard to rate, depending on one’s taste in music it can look any type of way and I wouldn’t look at you crazy.

I can finally post on the coli again after over a week and a half

But yeah, this album imo show cases the ups and downs of Kendrick from a musical and thematic standpoint as an artist. I believe when he said he had writer’s block for 2 years cuz you can kinda tell. This might be his most personable project but the weakest in terms of rapping and vocal performance.

Sonically this album is an extension of DAMN with a splash of some Kanye to my ears. It just doesn’t have the peak masterclass song or songs you usually find on any of his previous albums. But there’s quite of few good songs on here, and then the middling songs, and some that are underwhelming.

It’s my least favorite out of all his albums and showcases his writing talent the least out of all his efforts. The production for the most part is well done but none are hardly elevated to the level we know Kendrick can take a song to.

With all that said there’s still some joints on here and it’s definitely worth a listen. This album could grow on me
