Me: Kendrick does more than just rap

You: Kendrick is a rapper that does more than just rap

Sounds like you’re agreeing with me bro

Can’t make this shyt up
U said calling him a rapper is reductive. Meaning that him being just a rapper is basically beneath him or some shyt. Nah. That nikka just a rapper bruh. He just does lil harmonizing and poetry here n there. Y’all on some pretentious shyt. That’s why I’m calling it out.

strong 9/10. hate hate hate we cry together. put the heart pt5 there.

some great songs and themes on this.
Can’t take out “We Cry Together” cause it goes right into “Purple Hearts.” With the theme of those 2 records. It’s equivalent of seeing a toxic couple fight, make up after, then tells everybody to mind their business (“STFU when you hear love talking!”)

Its literally the continuation of the subject.

“The Heart Part 5” doesn’t fit anywhere on this album cause it sounds like he is speaking for the people and it would contradict the “I’m not your savior” theme of the album. Maybe a bonus track at the VERY end..but that’s just me :yeshrug:

If you looking for a rap album you’re going to be disappointed.

The great Bounty Killer once said ‘Some music is supposed to make you smile and dance, some music is supposed to make you listen and think.’ This project is definitely the latter

Calling Kendrick a rapper at this stage is reductive, he does more than just rap. To me, this is what a second Andre 3000 solo would sound like.
We have enough mindless music. I prefer some listen and think music every now and then.

Kendrick Lamar albums are like Movie's, Plays and musical's, he's a screenwriter, director, visionary.

Section 80 ~ Independent Sundance Film

Good kid Mad City ~ Autobiography Film

TPAB ~ A Black Play on The Black Experience even The Name To Pimp A Butterfly sounds like those Black Plays in the 80's

Damn ~ Summer blockbuster Film

Mr. Morale and The Big Stepper's ~ Broadway Musical

Pitchfork typically gives him great reviews but him featuring Kodak heavily on the album, and shooting from the hip on the trans topic probably docked him some points lol

It's fukkin wild to me that Bad Bunny gets Best New Music this week but my hate for that site is well documented on here

Kendrick lamar is a really good song writer.
The bridges, the transitions, the recurring themes & elements.

This is some really great stuff here.
I don't have time like I used to, to post paragraphs and paragraphs
about Kenny but this album is further proof that Emceeing is much more than just
writing a bunch of punchlines and doing cool word play.

This is on another tier than most Hip-Hop albums. IMO.

Nas really dropped 3 projects in 2 years better than this mid it took Kendrick 5 years to make:mjlol:
The first superstar rapper to have his music in all the college classrooms and get no play in the streets
Mfs forcing this sonically displeasing slam poetry over beats because of "content" and "messaging"
Bruh was talking some real shyt on a few of these tracks but what do that mean when I listen to the song once and never wanna hear it again
It's a balance and he proved he can do it with GKMC, dude is outsmarting himself, Pep Guardiola of rap
6/10
