Ran this back in full two days ago while cleaning the crib.


Still an IMMACULATE fukking project. I remember the fall of 2012 like it was yesterday when this album dropped. Kendrick instantly became a household name. EVERYBODY loved this album the moment it dropped. This and To Pimp A Butterfly were the last albums that dropped that I could safely call “Instant Classics”. Meaning the impact was felt the MOMENT the project was released.


I still think the way they utilized beat switches and skits to heighten the escalating tension of the story was genius and hasn’t been duplicated since

For real, when Kendrick got his appreciation, right after J. Cole, I was :gladbron: when lyrical rap was mainstream again. For a short time, until *certain* forces shoved down the (then) new Drill Rap and autotune.
