Islah was fukking trash :mjlol:

Had about 4 good songs and the rest were poor attempts at pop radio.

Summertime.close. 06 is a much better album. It ain't even close

Was AOTY :yeshrug:

I recycle binned that Vince Staples so quick. Kid has no versatility and his personal story is stale now....Shyne P Coldchain 1 and 2 only thing he ever did worthwhile :mjlol:

I disagree.
in Nu-Metal the goal was to incorporate contemporary elements from Hip-Hop
while staying Metal. They had DJ's, Beat Breaks and rapping but ultimately they had
their power chords, Bass string chugs (strumming the lowest string on the 6th or 7th string guitar) guitar solo's and of course "Rock" like focused using screaming and such.

While Hip-Hop artists tend to connect to the past by laying those older ideas over the
over the comparatively new rhythmic foundation of Hip-Hop. This record has more in
common with Pete Rock and Dilla than it doesn't. And obviously the album also draws heavily
from Neo-Soul.

This record for example (a classic !!!) uses nearly identical rhythms, the change
up comes from adding more or less kick but that basic Hip-Hop foundation (Kick,Snare
or the Boom Bap) is still there.

This is part of the reason I feel the "TPAB is more Jazz than Hip-Hop" claims are unfounded.

One love is a stipped down sample with rapping all the way through... you aint gotta lie is a super smooth instrumental with with a lot of singing. Nu neo soul.

My grandparents are Jamaican dumbass, so I take exception to some Jew using the sound for his benefit, which Dancehall artists have crossed over since Drake strip mined the sound? He's the reason pasty dudes like Ed Sheeran are hopping on the wave, and as more pop artists make their own dancehall songs it'll be harder for actual Jamaican artists to breakthrough with their own fukking music.
This is incorrect. Reggae through to dancehall has been copied by white people since the 70s but has never infringed on a Jamaican artist coming through with their own sound. I can understand your gripe but let us not use hyperbole to try and push home a point. :beli:

You're the one talking about him being Jewish. Not the fact he has a rich history of musicians and artists in his family.
Kendrick wouldn't be crooning on tracks if drake didn't make it possible

Man you trolls are fukking retarded. Had to catch myself before I started formulating an arguement on how stupid it is to compare young thug to Kendrick but I digress.:snoop:

I wouldn't call myself a "stan" but I do think Kendrick is the best rapper in the game at the moment. Album is fire and I hope he drops another one on Sunday that's just as good if not better so he can definitively claim the throne :wow:

What happened then, and what's happening today are not one in the same. More and more non Jamaican artists are just outright strip mining dancehall right now, the fact that Ed Sheeran has the most popular "dancehall" song in the last 10 years is pretty sad and a direct result of Drake. That will prevent artists from breaking through because people will grow tired of the sound.
