your fukkin point was about nas having anything out you dumbass

Im saying
that if we go by that same logic, kendrick should not have won in 2012 before GKMC, and 2014.

...no.

My point was that no one who's embraced by the mainstream now can touch Kendrick lyrically.

NOW.

Not 5 years ago, you dink.

Ehh... I've heard more than a few verses out of mainstream rappers that are more impressive than what I've heard from Kendrick. Gates had the best verse of 2014 imo

"fukk a meeting we about to have a sit-down,
wrap the phone up in plastic and stick it in the fridge
They know who we are but they don't know what we did
anything bout a mixup, murder getting sent
Gotta speak in code when you talking in the phone,
sticking to the code, they'll listen to the song
I taught my team about manifestation
people are basic they thought I was crazy
Hard with the witchcraft, study every night
philosopher's stone, I perform another rite
Rite meaning ritual, created dry ice
hid in plain sight with a suit and tie nice
A mason mean more than a bricklayer
Salmonella moving chicken got my chick tailored
Poison that was given distributed in the streets
Find another way to eat, I'ma quit slanging
Breadwinner Gang made nikkas quit hanging
The other side hate it when a nikka bang money
Thumbing through the law books, and he know the law?
Sent a hit in Baton Rouge, and he getting off?
Third eye focused, wonder what he saw?
Power in the tongue... bullets in ya car
You ain't want it, had it on you, tried to pull it but you lost,
War never knew mercy, Our Lady of the Lake
won't receive you in open arms, you in yellow tape
Melushi goin stupid, he'll do it everyday
tumble in your grandmother, and'll do it in ya face,
sittin in the jack, nikka you got doo doo in ya face?
What ya doin? don't you know it ain't no doin it with Gates?
Peculiar, Aouli will noodle ya grapes
Long days spent in the cage wasn't what ya think
Washing clothes with the toilet water, drinking out the sink
Hard mat hurt your back when it's no option
Everybody boxed in tryna release toxins

The wordplay, imagery and flow :wow::wow::wow: Effortless

Vince Staples was nice in 2014 too

"Bobby Johnson ain't my OG, this ain't no movie 'Ro
Pops was off the OE, tripping getting his Tookie on
Thunderbird with goldies, a felon and parolee
McDonalds for the double cheese, pockets fit a couple c-notes
up on the screen door, saying to pack it up and leave
but we don't read those, cause the money coming faster
than your bytch nikka...
All my life, I wanted to be a rich nikka
But homie let me proceed
Pops was moving slowpoke, that's way before the codeine
Just methadone and powder dates to junkies with the sour faces
Knocking on the screen door, asking for they homie Nate
10 or 20 each, 4PM he leaves so don't be late
Mama called from work, asking me if anybody came
To kick it with my dad or is he chilling in the alleyway
He was in the alleyway, that's what he always had me say
Slanging for them bills he had to pay, somebody at the door...

:whew::whew::whew: Now that's how you paint a picture

I like Kendrick, and I love what he stands for in the sense that he spearheaded this current generation by promoting quality and positivity. He respects hip hop, he respects his own craft and he respects life. His voice is awesome, too (literally and figuratively).

With that said, he is not an all-time great. He's very good, but his star is shining a LOT brighter these days than it would in comparison to some of the real top dogs because of the era he came up in. Everybody knows the game is watered down right now.

We need more Kendricks, but he's not an elite all timer.

@bolded quality no hes not, and for positivity(if you only talking mainstream) J.cole was doing it first.

:skip:Im not even gon address the bull you trying to pull.

But as for the underline Cole and Sean can see Kendrick

lyricially none of them are all that amazing, but all three of them are good lyricist, you can argue there is a gap between the 3 but its not as far as say the gap between these 3 and a Ab Soul, Oddisee, Krit, Cyhi etc

I listen average? You're a terrible person in general if you think quotables makes someone a good rapper.

You're feelings are hurt because you feel so much for that man. You still have bad taste in skills if you think Kendrick is anything above average.

I only know the first one.

Y'all some :flabbynsick:

That's why you don't think he has quotes

:umad:

nikkas in they 30s trying to dictate the culture.
That's exactly why threads like these happen because y'all nikkas try to gate keep and stop people from cooking.

We won't ever have another Nas PAC or jay.

Kendrick is one of the better mainstream artists out there. But there's always 3 underground or underrated artist for every decent one that goes mainstream.
so is Kendrick :dwillhuh:

so is Kendrick :dwillhuh:

He turned 30 like 3 months ago. :scusthov:

Plus, him and Drake and others are part of the culture of this generation. old minded nikkas gate keeping and dismissing quotes are just showing that flatop.

You guys want your grandchildren to have to look back 30+ years to find a quotable that they don't relate to or isn't a part of their time?

Big Sean? Good lyrically? :mjlol:

The other guys you mentioned aren’t really mainstream.
