This is gonna be a long read
Just to note, I'm fans of both Kendrick and Drake. When Drake was bubbling in 08, he was one of my favorite artists. I was rooting for him heavy especially after I heard Fear
I thought he'd be a two headed monster. A true lyricist who could give you bars and also a singer who could touch on relationships with women and other topics like that in a vulnerable way. He was killing verses and killing hooks. Unprecedented shyt
When Meek said he had ghostwriters and the reference tracks came out, I honestly never looked at Drake the same again. The GOAT talk from me went out the window at that point but I still enjoy his music
I'll say I'm a bigger fan of Kendrick than Drake now but I'm not someone who's simply a K. Dot stan talking him up
I'm a hip hop head first. When you look at this situation in the eyes of a HIP HOP fan, you'll see Drake is the one at a disadvantage. The Pusha T situation was evidence that he couldn't hang bar for bar with a rapper on that level
In all of his battles, he controlled the narrative with memes, social media posts, and other tactics that added to his diss records. His disses when heard individually have never been ones where you hear and go
6pm in Calabasas was like the closest one and even that wasn't really scathing
Drake has never put out an Ether. He's never put out a Takeover. No Vaseline. The Bridge is over. We can go on and on. He has slick lines in songs and tactful diss records. There's nothing you hear from Drake and say "Damn Drake killed _______". It's always been a narrative thing with him in beefs
When he couldn't pull that card with Push, he backtracked. Put out a press release, had J Prince come to his defense and say "Man Drake had a diss track that would've ended both Pusha T and Kanye's career", went on The Shop and tried to juelz about the situation there
And it's funny because alot of people forget he had hella subliminals toward Kanye and Push on Scorpion. He wrote those after Adidon came out and tried to put them out after the fact while backing out of the back and forth
"The only deadbeats are the beats I been rapping to"
"I wasn't hiding the kid from the world I was hiding the world from my kid"
Listen to 8 out of 10
He put that on the album on some slick shyt. Then had the Plies skit at the end
"I can't argue with you. You big mad"
It's like the nikka stepped in the ring with Duppy then ran away after Adidon came out and started talking shyt after the fact while playing the "I could've ended your career but I settled into my role as the good guy. Luck is on your side"
What part of the game is that?
You mean to tell me the same man who did that p*ssy ass shyt against Push won't do the same with Kendrick? Keep in mind not only is Kendrick built from the same cloth as Push when it comes to lyricism, but Kendrick is way more famous
Like I said before, Drake hasn't seen that monster before. A rapper who is calculated, can dissect your whole character, bar you up, and has the fame to prevent you from playing the "you aren't famous" card. There's no logical reason to put Drake over Kendrick
And another thing like
@old boy said, just because your career isn't over after a beef doesn't mean you didn't lose. This is hip hop. It all boils down to who outdid who on wax. If Drake couldn't do that to Push then he isn't doing that to Kendrick. Simple as that
