Somebody likely to kill him in prison anyway over Pac's death.
The story was that Puff did give Zip like 450k or a half payment, and expected that to get handled, but when you have this stream of drugs, debts, falling in and out with people, who knows what happened between with the payment
Puff called Zip right after and said "was that us" so he knew
same way Poochie got like 12k instead of 26 or whatever, half the job was done.
With so much going on you know Puff figured things would get lost in the shuffle and he wouldn’t have to pay up. Pac getting shot created a vaccum on the streets and there was so much gang violence in LA that was a direct result of it.
But you can’t have Keefe and the crew repeatedly looking out for you in the city and not settle up. But this is how it is when things are done for cheap with dudes from the street who are hungry. They will provide protection for a price but they will also blow someone’s head off for another price.
Puff could’ve paid for proper security who knew LA. There’s but so much Gene Deal could do even with his law enforcement background. He was only one person. If BIG was such an asset and valuable then treat him like one and make sure he’s safe — especially on a broken leg.
This is a reasonable post. But, these guys were 25 YEARS OLD, Puff and Big. They weren't reckless and stupid, they were just younger, dealing with intensely explosive and dangerous violent situations, were the ground was constantly shifting. A gang war is one thing. Puff and Big never went through that. They saw violence and guns, and drugs, but not blood for blood feuds, that they are right in the center of. Now, add in the rap factor. Both sides had millions of dollars, corporate backers, egos. It was an incredibly fraught situation.
