Not everyone will get it and every innovation has its doubters
People laughed at streaming
Laughed at mp3
Now they’re laughing at nft’s
Ownership is a malleable concept

100% right on this. All innovative concepts has doubters when its first appears. A lot of people seem to forget this aspect for some reason. If someone told me they were going to make a living streaming video games 5 years ago i wouldve laughed in their face too. :francis:

Ownership of a digital item that can be reproduced isn't worth much. Do you think the person that pirates a digital album of music cares about owning the album when they have possession of the files?

The point of NFTs is proven transferable ownership of a digital item. So you own the first tweet Jack Dorsey made. Who the hell cares?
We’re moving to a more digital world. Many many years away, you may be able to transfer your consciousness to a computer. If that ever happens (and I think it is possible), that digital nft just became “real.”

Even if that doesn’t happen, we still live in a very digital world. We put things on our digital social media to be consumed digitally by others. Having an NFT is just another way to show off digitally

It's the creation of artificial scarcity so mostly wealthy people can profit. There is a useful case for provable transferable digital ownership. Let's say I buy a copy of a game and I want to resell it... no scratch that companies won't let that happen. How about I own a digital movie and I don't want it anymore... never mind they won't go for that.

Ok let's say I own a drawing of a monkey in gif format and I want to sell it that's allowed.

The person who can then sell it for tens of thousands will care
I really wish folks would quit taking these things up. To the average person they're either meaningless or a scam to take their money.

Chainalysis found that NFTs have introduced a huge number of retail investors to the crypto world, with small transactions of under $10,000 accounting for more than 75 per cent of the market. But much like the market for cryptocurrencies, it remains dominated by a few large players, or “whales”. Between late February and November, there were 360,000 NFT owners holding 2.7m NFTs between them. Of those, about 9 per cent — or 32,400 wallets — held 80 per cent of the value of the market, Chainalysis found.
