:gucci: Not at the expense of Kyrie. And Cleveland wasn’t going to do that deal anyway. David Griffin and Kyrie were very close.

You really think Bron was trying replace Kyrie Irving with Eric Bledsoe breh? He only wanted George. He only wanted Bledsoe once Kyrie himself requested a trade and the Cavs were being active. And even then he met with the owner asking him to “just bring Kyrie to camp”

And I’d never seen that 180 mil number before... all I saw was the most Bos could offer Ky was 136/5yrs whereas Cleve could offer a true supermax of 205/5yrs. Once u get traded there is no such thing as a “supermax” just a max.

But if u got any receipts I stand corrected:feedme:
Swapping Kyrie for one of his boys isn't farfetched at all, but regardless that's not the point. Kyrie was shopped around the draft, that's been confirmed.

As far as the contract numbers:

Thanks to the structure of NBA contracts and increased TV revenue next year, Irving will be eligible to sign a five-year deal worth $188 million if he chooses to stay with the Celtics, who retained his Bird rights in the trade from the Cavs allowing them to go over the salary cap to retain a player.

And if he does choose to opt for another team, it would still be more lucrative than extending this summer. A max free-agent deal for Irving with a team that’s not the Celtics next season would be worth $139 million over four years.

The can't offer the full $200m super max but because they acquired his bird rights they can add that 5th year and crack $180m.

Props on the numbers.

As far as Kyrie getting “shopped” yea the Cavs put out feelers but they weren’t seriously trying to trade him.

Bledsoe is the lil homie to Bron but he doesn’t fit with him like that...he can’t even shoot. All reports coming out say Bron from start to finish was against Kyrie getting traded

Kyrie caught wind of the “feeler talk” prob Griff leaking it himself before he got let go and intially blamed Lebron then said fukk the organization.

It is what it is tho :yeshrug:

That report was all Indiana leaking that. They weren’t “close” to sending Kyrie to Indiana at all. Indiana was asking for Kyrie in the deal and Cleveland was resisting. The final deal that was essentially agreed upon was the 3way between Cleveland, Denver and Indiana

Cleveland gets Paul George
Denver gets Kevin Love
Indiana gets Gary Harris

That was the deal that was done but then Pritchard nuked it at the last possible min.

And Kyrie isn’t eligible for a super max in Boston. The only team that could offer him that was his original team and only after a certain amount of years/all nba appearances.
The deal was indy gets 4th pick, and kyrie goes to phx. That was the closest one

Phx didn’t want to come up off that 4th pick. Then they turned it into josh Jackson and they didn’t want to include him in the Bledsoe package

Celtics would probably still trade for him

Plus after all this I doubt San Antonio wants to help build a superteam in their own conference, or give Kawhi what he wants

He goes to an eastern conference team

You think the Celtics would give up Jaylen Brown for a dude that’s not gonna sign an extension?
