yeah you're probably right. according to reason, kennedy was more conservative than gorsuch this term. so trump's people might look at that and say if he can't be to the right of kennedy this term then we need to go even further right than a scalia/gorsuch.

kennedy is moderate to conservative, so still 5-4, but it will be a more reliable 5-4 with kennedy being replaced by a gorsuch type.

Kennedy had been a swing vote though on a few things. Having him replaced by a far right judge is terrible. Not to mention a younger one.
