They worship the celebrity until the celebrity does something they don't like or are embarrassed by, and then they come out in anger against the celebrity. It is really just pure emotionalism on display. Them allowing their emotions to control the narrative of their existence from one moment to the next.

If they were thinking logically, they would not worship the celebrities in the first place. Then when the celebrities do something they don't like, and more times than not they eventually will, they would not be so emotionally invested in what amounts to a modern day court jester's actions.

Some will grow beyond it, but I do not have faith that most will.

Also, the context has changed, which understandably leads to a shift in people's opinions.
