The KAT optimism is a bit weird considering the slander he’s gotten over the years from even posters in this thread. Unless people actually think he’s going to figure it out come playoff time in NY or that he drops in the pecking order reducing the need for his to meet expectations.

I think offensively he'll be OK and probably provides the Knicks an aspect that they were missing but he is completely incapable of playing defense without picking up stupid fouls.

I think most the optimism stems from getting rid of Randle :pachaha:

And Kat has a funny & easy going personality

That’s cool and all until it comes playoff time and he comes up short when needed and that humor turns to slander.

I guess my question is what do Knicks fans expect him to do offensively when it matters most when he’s struggled to show it in the playoffs at times.

WELL HES JUST THERE
TO PLAY OFF OF BRUNSON.

EVEN THOUGH HES BEING PAID LIKE ONE
DONT LOOK FOR HIM TO BE
A PRIMARY SCORER IN THE POST SEASON.

KNICKS HAVE A LOT OF CAPABLE SCORERS
SO USE HIM LIKE A SUPER ROLE PLAYER
AND HE CAN THRIVE WITH LESS PRESSURE.

HE CAN BE THEIR PORZINGIS

Being optimistic about this trade doesn't mean he's immune to slander. If he doesn't perform when the lights are the brightest he should be criticized just like any other player relative to his standing in the league.

And this is more about the fact that a team has managed to construct a roster that's about as good as you're possibly going to get without a true megastar. You'd be hard pressed to recall a team in the last 20 years that's as good as this without a top-10 player. That alone is something to be optimistic about. I don't see how anyone could be anything to the contrary given that. As it's been reiterated throughout this thread, he's going to have less [offensive] responsibility than he ever has, and that should benefit someone like him who's clearly struggled mentally when he's been forced into a greater role than he's been able to handle.

Last but not least, it's getting rid of Randle and replacing him with an actual star. That's what this is generally about. KAT looks like Tim Duncan if you compare him to that bum.

The expectations of KAT is kind of confusing.

He’s essentially here to replace Hartenstein moreso than Randle.

The team is very clearly being built around Brunson and whoever else gets the crumbs, knock yourself out. The biggest thing will be exploring more of Karl’s passing and opening up that side of the game ala Noah with the Bulls. If we do that this team will be unstoppable.

Yeah the more I look at it, the more it's clear that Knicks took a clear W on this trade.

Randle is an expiring contract who would be whining about his minutes, trying to boost his stats for some sucker ass team to pay him lucrative contract. Now he's Minnesota's problem.

Knicks are getting a very talented player in return, who has guaranteed few years on his contract. And all it cost them was giving Donte away.

If we take out Randle, since he was irrelevant to their playoff run this year. The Knicks pretty much gave away Hartenstein/Donte and got in return KAT/Mikal Bridges. That's a damn good return I'd say lol.
