You just want to argue, so lets go.

1. Kanye is black.

2. There are NO other black males at the forefront of black fashion like Kanye is. Not even designers and Kanye has literally put on several brands by wearing and promoting them

3. no other black entertainer has not only promoted fashion, but engaged and influenced how others wear their clothes

4. your list shows inherent racism simply because whites don't approve

5. fab five was a clown in clown clothes

6. Kanye introduced black fashion in a way no one had really done before. Sure pac and biggie wore versace, but they didn't LIVE that versace life. They didn't rock it and embrace it and transcend it.

Anytime Ye rocks something it FLIES out of stores and literally transforms brands and how people look at what they wear.

Argue? No.
But seeing as you're a logical guy, I was kinda pressuring you to give reasons behind your view...you know...like you always do in the religion troll threads.
Touche.

Personally, I don't see Kanye influencing the fashion styles of anyone. Hell, Marc Anthony has a fashion line. He's not inspiring people either. So he's not an icon.

Now if you personally are inspired by Kanye's style...more power to you.
If you are happy that Kanye is getting some shine on GQ because he's black...great.

I've commended him like 3 times in this thread for being on the cover.
He's just not my style.

I don't have to put this goon on a fashion pedestal just because he's successful (for MUSIC).

I like how a forum full of older, unfashionable nikkas is going to argue fashion
Some of these dudes aren't even old, but just clueless.

Ask their girls if they think Ye is a fashion icon. Most of them will say YES>

Ye is rocking shyt usually 2-3 years before the rest of the game catches up.

This was everything from established brands like polo and nike to then esoteric street wear brands like bape, stussy, visvim, and supreme, all the way to high fashion like YSL, Balmain, Bottega Vanettea, Hermes, Rick Owens, etc etc etc.

NO ONE was pushing this shyt on a level before Kanye.

Look at the Balenciaga phase. You can single handedly trace that to Ye influence.

Just because he doesn't have his own cut and sew doesn't mean anything.

We're arguing art and so you either get it or you don't.

All the girls I know acknowledge what Ye has done over the years in promote certain brands and cultural statements over the rest of his peers.

Ye is truly a trend setter.

Look at brands like givenchy doing the long shirts with the numbers on it...

Look at brands copying the balmain trend with biker denin and crazy stitching

Look at Ye getting dudes to start rocking slimmer profile clothes and less outwardly branded clothes

Look at Ye's influence on street wear clothes and shoes

Ye IS a fashion icon, but you're playing games because you don't like his music or his attitude. Do you. You're mixing the topic up any ways at this point.

:mindblown:

But show me these receipts that he's wearing shyt that gets fashionable before everybody else and that he's responsible for setting that trend.
You're saying "look here, look there" but you aint showing shyt.

I swear, you making assertions without holding yourself to your own standards when it comes to any other topic.

Why don't you just say YOU are inspired by Kanye's style and that YOU like it instead of making some blanket statement about Kanye's influence on the world.

"Oh look, I can name such and such rapper who wore timbs and a wifebeater therefore they had bigger fashion influence"

fukk outta here.

Thats not even remotely the same thing.

Ye is as close to a fashion icon you can be without actually being a model.

Is this what you consider to be men's fashion? Or cross-dressing fashion?

You're playing dumb and I can't for the sake of time go back 15 years ago and show you all the magazines, blog posts, and forum discussions about it.

Thats going to be something you have to do.

And Ye has influence OUTSIDE of music. Thats the point.
