Glory to Michigan
The Democratic Party is not owed our votes.
Look, Black women are the most stable voting demographic in the country and they're still waiting for actual solutions to their issues from the Democratic Party, which they overwhelmingly support.
Let's not pull any punches, these liberals are constantly telling us to fall in line because it's the best choice for us. However, when their candidate takes office it's incrementalist lip service on enacting policies that would actually help our community.
That being said the GOP offers nothing but police brutality, voter suppression, emboldened white supremacists, etc. So the choice always feels like it comes down to oppression from the right and "may be tomorrow" from the center-left, which is obviously uninspiring.
A solution to this would be to vote in primary elections and not just general elections. People like to brag about Ocasio-Cortez beating Crowley, but the more impressive win was Ayanna Pressley beating Mike Capuano when you consider the demographics of the district. Andrew Gillum wasn't supposed to win his primary but look at him now. If he's elected with a left-leaning state legislature he can actually enact change.
Feckless Corporatist Democrats and the GOP benefit from the status quo. If you want to enact change, then you must usurp one of them.
