Is this real life? Is a black person having to explain to other Black people about the importance of HBCUs?
That entire "looks down on other Black people" is a phrase used very often around here. It's one size fits all criticism, apparently. Bigblackted, did you seriously write that all HBCUs have done in the past 50 years is produce Blacks who look down other Blacks?
I think they still produce more Black college graduates than all the white colleges combined.
Wilberforce is located in Ohio.
We have two HBCUs in Ohio Wilberforce and Central ( they are about 10 minutes apart) but like I said they don’t have any influence, those schools are about 3 hours away from me and again I’ve never seen anybody that graduated from either. They don’t do work in my community and don’t have influence in Ohio. In the south these schools maybe important but in the Midwest nope. Now that I’m in DC I’ve experienced the elitist attitude of HBCU graduates but it’s Stereotype I’m looking to get past and work with other graduates.
Hopefully this bill can allow them to do more and rise back to prominence in our communities, and get some influence all over not just the South.
