The principal of cultural appropriation is a logical one that should readily be considered.

The whole point behind this particularity : black hairstyles are seen as unrefined, lesser on black people, but are seen as exotic, high-fashion, edgy, and cool on whites.

This framework can be applied to literally every other form of theft cacs have committed in relation. All of you aware of the term "culture vulture" don't see this?

Recuperation - a dominant society co-opting from the minority and absorbing those things into their own - is the basic way in which white supremacy functions culturally. Look at the bigger picture and you can't really bytch.

internalized racism and living in a white society.

You guys like playing dumb. :yeshrug:

some black people, especially black women, don't like admitting that, that's why I asked.

we all know what cultural appropriation is and why it's bad, it's just not at the top of the priority list when concerning the plight of blacks under the white supremacy. it takes no effort to call out cultural appropriators on IG & twitter and it doesnt change the socio economic status of blacks in the western world. that energy should be channeled into something more constructive

Same chicks wearing weave and blue contacts throwing shade

Compare the dominate culture to those who have been oppressed and taught to love the Eurocentric standard of beauty.

:francis:I ain't trying to beef with you like that, broham. But it is hair. The fukk is there to be upset about???

Brothas out getting smacked with double digits for drugs, our women getting mixed signals from all kinds of media, yet there is an issue
with cornrows???:dahell: Its a hairstyle. Come on.
It's a serious problem. It's the fact that we can't own the same characteristics without a negative connotation being attached to us.It's not just cornrows, it's everything. Nothing is beautiful, classy, stylish or accepted until its on white skin. That's the problem. And it's a legitimate one.

And we are the only group of people who don't have a problem with that. Some things are culturally sacred. That's a fact. It's just a "hairstyle" to the average eye, but brothers and women have been profiled and approached by cops for wearing that "hairstyle". Europeans ripped that "hairstyle" from the scalp of black folks. People have been declined certain professional positions because of that "hairstyle". It's not just a hairstyle, it is in fact a cultural gem and showcase of pride. African Pride.

I mean if this is just a hairstyle. Then A Kippah is just a "hat", a Hijab is just a "scarf", the Pe'a is just a tattoo, and a Dashiki is just a "shirt".

It doesn't work like that. There are things that have cultural significance, and relinquishing the underlying importance of these things is disrespectful :ehh:

:ohhh:Oh my bad. I got you now. Yea I talked about this shyt in another thread. If you remember the Freaknik days, that shyt was characterized as EVERYTHING
negative under the sun. Next thing you know, white people start twerking and its "cool". I got you. I just don't find it to be anything worth getting upset over
because white people been shaming and stealing for AGES. Hairstyles:we been sharing that.
