It'd be interesting to see per snap count how often a 3-4 OLB is asked to drop vs a 4-3 DE. So if you could sort that it'd be cool. And as I've been exhaustingly pointing out there are tons of defenses who are a hybrid of both. I couldnt tell you what Bruce Irvin(or any of the Seahawks edge rushers) or Aldon Smith's position is.

That may take some work seeing how PFF Automarically has a filter for pass coverage for who they deem 3-4 OLB but to find out about 4-3 DE you have to go into each name and dig further to get that info.
What I really want is a chart that gives you alignments. The beauty of Mo, Sheldon and Leonard is they play 0 to 5. Can't really label them. They all drop back in coverage too .
Yeah theyre all super versatile which is perfect. And as we know it leaves Coples as the odd man out.

A MLB has a far bigger impact than a 3-4 DE. Plus its alot easier to take a DE out of a game.

But a 3-4 MLB ain't ish without a fire ass D line. Because they eat up all the blocks
that's why when it comes down to it The jets , 49ers , ravens with Ray lewis , steelers , you have a good Dline combined with a beast of a Football mind and physical talent you got a outstanding defense
Playing behind JJ and that line Cushing should be standing out but
I give JJ credit to ball like he has at DE in
a 3-4 is something
if he played 4 technique in a 4-3 all year
he would show out for real

All a decent 3-4 DE has to do is engage the tackle. The good ones get past the block and contain. The great ones get sacks. OLBs (Mercilus) need to generate pressure in the passing game. Watt is special because he can get to the QB, stop the run, or at least tie up a tackle.
A decent DE just has to take care of the tackle.
Mistakes hurt more at the lb position because lbs are responsible for more.
Texans gotta get a pass rush tho. if Watt is getting double/triple teamed, Clowney and Mercilus have to beat their man.
Who would you rather have JJ or Ray Lewis?
