Who is on Biden’s shortlist to replace retiring Justice Breyer?

So when Manchin tanks the whole thing with a thumbs down then what? That will just embarrass the nominee and the President.
Why do you think Manchin (or Sinema) will tank the nominee?

I'd expect Collins to confirm Breyer's successor because it's immaterial to the composition of the court and easy bipartisan fodder. Murkowski might be trickier, since she's up for reelection, but she's already on MAGA's shyt list and needs Alaska Dems help if she wants to win reelection.

Will She be in by Roe V Wade time?
Like No1 said, none of this is relevant to the court's decisions.

Imagine if Manchin and Sinema fukk this up and don't let Biden appoint anyone before midterms :wow:

And then the GOP takes the Senate and blocks Biden from appointing anyone until after the next presidential election :wow:

Might sound like a stretch but I don't put it past Manchinema.

that's great.

doesn't solve the politization problem long-term. we need to expand the courts.

5 Justices for each party and the 10 choose 3 more.
That’s not going to prevent the 10 from selecting along ideology. And where does packing the court end? I’m just curious and not trying to flame anyone by asking that.

It does.

If the law/amendment/rule whatever is...

Each Party gets 5 judges, and those 10 judges have to agree on the last 3. That's totally fair. It can't be ideological because that'd just end up in the seats not being filled...

Bro, every judge is ideological. And more importantly, there are not an equal number of liberal and conservative people in America. Giving equal say to a group of people that have lost every popular for damn near 30 years is ridiculous. We have a right wing court because of Senate fukk shyt. Now you want to give these people more outsized power? Bro what type of fantasy land are you living in? You actually think that last pick won’t be highly political and that getting appointed won’t be contingent on guaranteeing that you will vote for a highly partisan person? We almost certainly never fill those final 3 spots. At best we would be stuck 6-6.
