I loved that movie so much, perfect kind of new horror movie, artistic and layered, with naturalistic direction. 2015/2016 set a new standard for horror, which we see continued today, but It Follows, The Witch, Green Room were excellent horror movies, of a new era.

I was let down when people whom I know couldn't appreciate it, yet yearn for the "thrills" of the Conjuring variety.

I wouldn't even put this in the category of Horror. Its Horror like The Shining is horror. People seeking a quick thrill are probably not going to get it here.

This is a horror movie. Now whether it scares you or not is different but the intent of this is to scare, thus its a horror. The intent of the shining is to scare, thus its a horror
