Such a simple story yet creepy

Yeah this is one of those times where I left the theater feeling unsettled. Not even terrified just unsettled. Like I just watched something I shouldn’t have watched 
The way the movie shows the actual witchcraft along with showing how religion and envy and jealousy and miscommunication can destroy a family. The scariest things are what we do to ourselves and that movie is all of that in a nutshell

Absolutely uncomfortable to watch at times & successfully inventive at building tension throughout. You never really feel like you can relax once certain events start to unfold.

I actually still haven't seen this, I started the beginning a couple of times but it was always way too late and I'd fall asleep because it's a little slow at the beginning. Need to revisit

One of the best films in recent memory. Its a chilling meditation on the boundaries society places on people and the dread of the unknown. Truly creepy and rewatchable.

It's up there with the other religious horror classics: The Omen, The Exorcist and now The VVitch. I can see it on future lists of "100 scariest movies, moments, etc"
No weird looking cgi, no cheap jumpscares, well acted, written and directed.
This movie is gonna age like a fine wine and future directors will study it.

Yes.
Patrice O'Neal hosted a short lived radio show called The Black Phillip Show so I think of that whenever I hear the name.
It’s definitely not for everyone and you have to be in the right state of mind to watch it lol

I loved that movie so much, perfect kind of new horror movie, artistic and layered, with naturalistic direction. 2015/2016 set a new standard for horror, which we see continued today, but It Follows, The Witch, Green Room were excellent horror movies, of a new era.
I was let down when people whom I know couldn't appreciate it, yet yearn for the "thrills" of the Conjuring variety.
