Action packed from start to finish! The opening sequence alone was like

The movie was quite good. I was actually surprised at how good it turned out to be. The villain was CRAZY. But I have one grip. He was sooooo smart but didn't think of the shyt Spock pulled on him? REALLY? You aren't that smart then.

He fell prey to Villain Madness.

No matter how smart the villain is, when on the verge of succeeding in their villainous efforts, they can miss out on the most obvious or minute details that will inevitably lead to all their plans failing.

Also Khan sees other beings (humans, Vulcans, everyone) as beneath him. I imagine his villain madness combined with not being able to fathom a lesser being outsmarting him, led to his failure.

AND ADMIRAL ROBOCOP WAS GOING TO BLOW UP THE ENTERPRISE IN ORBIT AROUND EARTH, BROTHER? IN HIS OBVIOUSLY STARFLEET-DESIGN SHIP, DUDE? AND HE ADMITTED THIS OVER A DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TRANSMISSION THAT WOULD OBVIOUSLY BE VIEWABLE BY THE TIGHTEST FEDERATION SECURITY IN THE QUADRANT, MEAN GENE?

AND SPOCK IS WILLING TO DIE AS A STARFLEET OFFICER, SAYS HE NEVER WANTS TO FEEL SAD AGAIN AFTER HIS fukkING HOMEWORLD BLEW UP AND HE WATCHED HIS MOM FALL OFF A CLIFF, BUT HE'S BAWLING AND SCREAMING BECAUSE HIS BUDDY JIM IS WILLING TO DIE AS A STARFLEET OFFICER, BROTHER? THIS SCENE WORKED IN STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN BECAUSE A RICH AND LENGTHY RAPPORT HAD BEEN BUILT UP BETWEEN THE TWO CHARACTERS, DUDE! PINE AND QUINTO HAVEN'T BUILT THAT CONNECTION, JACK! WILLIAM SHATNER'S ACTING WAS BETTER THAN ZACHARY QUINTO'S, BROTHER! AND WILLIAM SHATNER IS AN AWFUL ACTOR, DUDE!

UHURA SAYS THE KLINGONS RESPECT HONOR BUT THEY WEREN'T ON THAT WORF shyt UNTIL THE NEXT GENERATION, BROTHER! AND THIS STORY TAKES PLACE EVEN BEFORE THE ORIGINAL SERIES, DUDE! THE KLINGONS SHATNERKIRK AND THE GANG RAN INTO WERE BASICALLY JUST SPACE PIRATES WHO LIKED TO dikk WITH PEOPLE, MEAN GENE!

SO KHAN IS GENETICALLY MODIFIED TO BE A SUPERIOR HUMAN BEING IN EVERY RESPECT, BUT HE CAN'T GET HIS CROOKED ENGLISH TEETH FIXED, BROTHER? AND THEY SAID HE WAS 300 YEARS OLD, RIGHT DUDE? AND THIS TAKES PLACE IN 2259, RIGHT TOUGH GUY? SO KHAN WAS GENETICALLY ENGINEERED BEFORE THE ORIGINAL STAR TREK SERIES WAS EVEN ON TELEVISION, BROTHER?

AND THE KEY TO THE WHOLE PLOT WAS CALLING NIMOYSPOCK TO GET THE CHEAT CODES TO THE MOVIE, JACK?

AND THIS TEA SIPPING, DIGESTIVE BISCUIT EATING, LIZARD FACED, ONE NOTE AC-TOR IS SUPPOSED TO BE RICARDO "BROLIC" MONTALBAN, BROTHER?

THIS MOVIE HAS MORE CLIFFHANGING THAN OLD WCW MONDAY NITRO, DUDE! AT ONE POINT THEY'RE HANGING FROM ONE CLIFF, GRAVITY REVERSES, AND NOW THEY'RE HANGING FROM THE OPPOSITE CLIFF IN THE SAME SCENE, MEAN GENE! THE DEFINITION OF AMUSEMENT PARK FILM, CHAMP!

STAR TREK WAS ALWAYS DRIVEN BY RICH RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHARACTERS IMBUED WITH AN UNSHAKEABLE BELIEF IN THE PEACEFUL TRIUMPH OF HUMANISM, BROTHER! THE ARNOLD ACTION MOVIE TROPES, THE MACHISMO, AND THE HUGO BOSS NAZI UNIFORMS SIGNIFY TO THE HULKSTER THAT THIS IS JUST A CASH GRAB NAMED STAR TREK, BROTHER!

Well said. As an over-the-top, fast-paced action movie with tons of explosions and fancy effects, it succeeded, but as a Star Trek movie, it was an absolute failure. Martin Luther King was a big fan of the original Star Trek tv series and would watch it every week with his whole fam, specifically because it promoted utopian values and diversity in a time of racial strife and the cold war, and managed to do so within a framework that allowed for action, adventure, philosophical elements, and character development/relationships... the Star Trek he loved is gone and has been replaced by a generic, hollow, cash grab that reflects none of those values and doesn't even attempt either literal or metaphorical exploration.
