Came out in Australia today so I checked it out

:whoo: was straight heat.

Definitely enjoyed it more than Iron Man 3 but thats just me

Visually amazing, wish i saw it in 3D.

Benedict Cumberbatch played the villain heaps good, dude was gully as hell, and was definitely one of the big highlights.

Highly recommend it. :win:

Seen it at a midnight screening in the UK

Very good film, a solid sequel and perhaps a little too safe.

The whole bit with the kid and the blowing up of the, 'library' that housed a secret training facility still didn't hold any sort of major significance to the film whatsoever, it felt like filler...

Should've used Khan more, he felt underused within the film itself I really didn't enjoy his development as a villain.

But honestly it's a 7/10 movie with unbelievable visuals and a soundtrack that is :ahh:

Saw it at midnight last night :lawd:

awesome movie. Would definitely see it again in Imax.

Really curious to see how the hardcore Trekkies feel about this film. Cumberbatch was really great! Can't say enough about his performance.

so spoilers:
I wasn't mad that it was Khan. Since time travel is in play for this new ST it all ties in nicely to what has been established by the original cast.

EXTREMELY curious about the ramifications of the opening scene, since it was brought up how The Enterprise was not to be seen on their mission, but with Kirk deciding to save Spock's life it allowed the alien civilization to see the ship, and ended with them drawing it on their surface. That move will obviously advance that civilization's technology forward however many years and 'should' play out in the next chapter of this series.

Movie is a big disappointment. It looks great, and there are some good performances from Benedict, Quinto, Pegg, etc, but the plot is straight ass. They really stoop low for some of the plot points, and rush from one action set piece to another until it's over. They also ignore everything that makes Star Trek unique, in favor of generic action/sci-fi with big explosions and futuristic gunfights. The use of the villain was ridiculous- he's an iconic villain from the past, but they ignore all that in favor of turning him into a generic superpowered fighter (though he is well-acted.) In fact, they have to rely on a cheap trick jumping off the time travel/alternate continuity to try and hype him up.

The NYT review says it all: http://movies.nytimes.com/2013/05/1...all&adxnnlx=1368713147-RtTGzymPDTiPOIuBh+5C4Q

Very enjoyable movie but the script was terrible.

I don't know why Kurtzman and Orci keep getting work. (These are the guys that wrote the Transformers movies, Cowboys and Aliens)

And with the amount of :mindblown: moments it's no surprise that Damon Lindelof was also involved
