Didnt read this whole thread but what I will say as someone whos been through the court systems but deservedly so for the most part. Take that deal. Not because its time served, but because its a misdemeanor conduct. Dont worry about having a record. That wont even show up as an issue at all in the job market or keep you from any opportunities. Its a misD and non violent. Couldve been you pissing drunk outside and got that charge. Not only that, but it is completely able to be expunged and sealed. Meaning this wont even be on your record at all bro. Dont play games with these people. If it was a felony, thats different but this aint shyt. Dont give them the opportunity. And dont look at it like conceding to have done something wrong. Look at like all I have to do to not deal with this shyt anymore is fill out a form and pay the filing fee to get this expunged. Small price to pay if you really didnt do anything. And a fukking blessing if you know you did something wrong and got caught up.I went to court today. I was told to come back Thursday for jury selection. I got a call a couple hours later from my lawyer to ask if I'd accept misdemeanor reckless conduct, time served. Case closed.
I told her let me think about it and what's the odds for a complete dismissal. She said at this point they're not offering that, but if I still want to take the risk to let her know by Thursday.
I know it's a good "deal".
Advice?... I need the dismissal so I can get all the stories and mugshots removed from the internet
This coming from somebody that went to trial and was locked up for years. Think big picture. The youve been inconvenienced more by going back and forth to court with your livelihood on the line than you would be by signing a form in a 402 conference that day. And mailing a form off the next for expungement of a misdemeanor. Im telling you, they will book you on a bullshyt misdemeanor in trial regardless breh, REGARDLESS. This is for nothing other than making the city pay for the trial and jury you made them pick. Take it. File the expungement. Get out they face.
