Did anyone actually read the article?
The operating budget for the school is fine, its the "savings" account of the school that's dipping dangerously low.
Part of it likely has to do with the cheap tuition of the school, and various repairs and implementations of new programs.
She wasn't pocketing the money, the school isn't having accountancy issues.
Mississippi has too many HBCUs though, they need to merge a few, share endowments, create a system, something.

There are 100+ HBCUS, when in reality we need to consolidate them to maybe 10-20. IMO All HBCUs should merge into the Current MEAC and SWAC schools outside of a few.

There are too many HBCUs.

Even schools such as Morehouse are on shaky financial footing. With all those nikkas who've graduated from there, you'd think they'd have a good chunk of change from an endowment perspective.

Its endowment is only $130 million. :francis:

To put things into perspective, a rich CAC wrote Harvard a check for $400 million last year! That was one person and one donation! Howard, the richest HBCU, only has a $500 million endowment. :martin:

Yet, all those nikkas will be in Atlanta this weekend for homecoming. Why aren't they pumping money back into the school?

Because They're paying off their parents debts/bills and trying to pay thier own bills while worrying about saving enough money for retirement. :manny:

They will drop hundreds of dollars for plane tickets, hotels, rental cars, etc. to make it to homecoming. Not to mention the money they will drop on alcohol and other shyt during homecoming pre and afterparties.

But, they cannot donate $20 to the school?

Morehouse has graduated a lot of brehs over the last 50 years.

It should have more than a $130 endowment.

:dahell: Is there really 100+? Yeah they're spread wayyyyyyy too thin
there are many with 2k less students. Most on avg have like 2-4k students. Your "big time" HBCUs like Howard have like 10-15k.

I`d rather there be 2 HBCUs per Southern and East Coast state. 1 for your smaller states, that all the Black kids in those states go to.

I was chatting on FB about that during Spelhouse Homecoming with a girl who went there. Imagine if Every HBCU had a mandatory State of Black America conference during their Homecoming that was mandatory to go to where alum plan out all the things they plan on doing for the up coming year in that City/State the HBCU is located in.

Debt from student loans hinders alot of would be alumni financial support. The majority of students in HBCU's are paying out of pocket/government aid. Many of us don't come from rich families like those at PWI's. Couple that with HBCU's not getting financial support from the state and this is what we get. Many college grads can't find good enough work to make a decent living because most employers don't respect a degree from HBCU's anyway.
