His films are always a tribute or homage to "b, c, or d" list movies with a bunch of sh*tty dialogue. The basis of Tarantino's movies are always the same, only the time period and settings change. A lot of times he and his work is viewed as something "great" or innovative but I don't think there's much to him as a "great" director and writer.

Adam Sandler films aren't meant to be something epic, nor is The Wayans Brothers' movies or Tyler Perry's movies. And these movies aren't, they just are what they are. And I know a lot of those cats do a lot of comedies but a great film is a great film, no matter what the genre of the film is.

My question is why is Tarantino viewed as something of a great director when his films are just the same movie over and over again; homages or tributes to films of the past. What's so creative or innovative about his work?

He's an average producer obsessed with Black culture.

Had a spark when he started but now he's just :trash:

He's lacks the depth that truly great filmmakers have and the latter part of his career have exposed his limitations. All his work is kitsch. He's the Jeff Koons of film-making. Is there any diversity in his work? I'm tired of Hollywood applauding his work because he cast different ethnic groups and genders in his revenge films while he incessantly puts out his trash.

your answer...

written and/or directed by tarantino

reservoir dogs
true romance
pulp fiction (where he really got his fame)
natural born killers
from dusk till dawn
jackie brown
kill bill
inglourious basterds
django

that's a good list of movies that are considered cult classics... and that's what he is, basically a cult classic director and writer (not too many write and direct either)

he's not praised on the level of martin scorsese or somebody.. he doesn't even sell that many tickets as a michael bay or some of the blockbuster directors

people just know his writing and directing style... and so far, he hasn't really missed big.. his movies usually go straight to cult classic status.. that's his niche and it's a big damn niche he's carved out with those movies i just listed
