Nikkaz gonna learn the hard way.
What ever your job is, do your work & whats required of you, collect your check & go home.
Like someone said, at work keep the small talk on lighthearted topics such as sports, entertainment, movies, video games, cars etc.
Avoid topics on race, politics, sexism religion etc
Save your controversial opinions for online outlets such as Thecoli where you remain anonymous.
Most of us here, we be talking that "Cac this...... Cac that......" but in real life, we dont talk like that looooooool
You have a habit or patterned of saying crazy ass shyt to kids. As a teacher You gonna have to check that shyt in the future or you gonna have a problem wherever you at.
I sub all around Calhoun County including Anniston. I did work in St. Clair County out near Bham and Pell City Schools. In Anniston?
You already know. At worse, I would've gotten a warning since it was my first offense and we would've kept it moving. But its all good. I ignored my coli training and got caught slipping. Paid the consequences.Mm I have a feeling if OP was white and asked the same questions and made the same joke no one would have batted an eye.
Used to be a sub teacher. Never liked subbing jr high/middle school students. Too much emotional volatility in the air.
My advice: No sarcasm. They lack maturity and accept words out of a teacher's mouth as truth.
Never ever touch a student. Never. Stand 3 feet away at all times. Knuckles, hands etc you ever seen that guy?
If that mixed student was the only "Black" student in the classroom and you are in a cac school then it is possible they don't see themselves as "Black" and you outting them when they were trying to fit in is problematic for them emotionally.
Same thing goes for the German question. Maybe you (as an adult) recognized the German name but children don't then when that "holocaust" lesson comes up then every other student remembers that kid is German.
Finally never give up your dream to teach. You sound like you really care and want to connect with students and that is something you can't teach.
And finally...you may be better suited for 11th or 12th graders.
Prolly been written already but
This is a niqqa wake up call Breh.
Those kids loved me..
Were laughing like it's all good..
They didn't all love you. They will laugh with you and go behind your back and cost you your J.O.
You gotta play the role and act like race isn't even a thing in a white professional setting.
I remember a room full of people trying to describe the Asian dude for a full 5 minutes before someone bust out and said "he's Chinese I think"
Then everyone was like "Ohhhhhhh. I know him".
shyt was comedy "black hair. About this tall. Works out alot.." on and on for a painfully long time.
