After seeing Tariq Nasheed speak in Houston this week..... he made a great point.... he said something like colleges teach you how to work for somebody else for the most part .... so although having advanced degrees is overall a positive (minus the debt) ...... its important to build your own or partner up with up others to build something .....

I guess i'm saying, while you are studying in grad school, also be prepping or thinking about something you could do on the side for long term sake ........ :yeshrug:......... I haven't quite taken my own medicine yet :beli:, but its still a good idea I think

Would you mind divulging what your gpa in college was? I ended up with a 2.8 gpa by the time I graduated because I had a little too much fun freshmen and sophomore year. What's been keeping me from considering grad school is the notion that most places won't even bat an eye at you if you don't have a 3.0 cumulative.

I ain't on here to flex bruh. My undergrad GPA ended about the same as yours. What saved me though was I did well in the upper level courses and the overall diversity and difficulty in the classes I took. Didn't do too shabby on the GRE either.

I probably would have had a hard time getting into say a top 10 program, but for my purposes I just wanted to reestablish myself as a great candidate for a top pharmacy school. I'm doing research, taking relevant courses and I actually understand chemistry. It's been good.

how'd your first semester go breh

It went well. GPA was like 3.6-3.7. Took a couple classes this semester that had me like :sadcam:. I'm looking at all Bs right now. Might still be able to get a couple As after next week finals.

@newworldafro I hear you about making it work for me. Exactly what I been doing. I'm using my professors for recommendations and their facilities to learn some skills. Ill use this to get into pharmacy school, get some capital, pay off bills, then maybe one day invest in some pharmaceutical drugs or even be involved in making one :krs:

The drug game is poppin. All these research universities are all just companies using students as highly motivated free labor basically to conduct research and make breakthroughs that can be marketed or sold.

@OneManGang

I just got accepted to masters program in Biomedical Sciences.

How has graduate school been so far? Is the work/course-load significantly tougher than that of undergrad?

I also just got accepted into a graduate program in Pathologists' Assistant Sciences, I'm also curious about the thread starters workload relative to undergrad.

Keep me updated on how your program goes as well. :salute:

I could have. But it wasn't worth the hassle because I knew I wasn't competitive enough at the time. I knew the material, but that GPA was bunz. I'll get into a better school now.

Ain't that some shyt. Thank god it's absolutely unnecessary for accountants to get a masters.. once you get that CPA and some work experience no one gives a fukk about your GPA in college

@EatingGoodNow

In a lot of ways, its easier because you already know what to expect. I stayed at the same institution I got my undergrad from, but concept is the same. The biggest issue for me is time management between classes, graduate responsibilities, and lab research time. If you guys can id highly recommend doing research or a thesis for a project. Makes you so much more knowledgeable and competent in your field.

:salute: Congrats from one science graduate (biology) to another. I think about going to grad school sometimes, but I make enough money and am satisfied enough with my job to be like :manny: Plus my wife is gonna be a CPA in a couple of years. I'm enjoying :eat: and having leisure time and no debt.
