Just finished The Sopranos for the first time...

and as far as this thread goes, I actually just started this a week ago, on season 2. Show is very fukking good, maybe not watching it “live” or having to high expectations ruined it. That happened with me for The Wire. Second time I watched it, I understood the hype.

You just finished the greatest show of all time and is saying The Wire and Breaking Bad is better? Lol. Sounds like you need to watch it all over again.

No other drama comes close to how perfect The Sopranos is.

Breaking Bad is a critically acclaimed show. What is the issue? Maybe it's premature to say BB over Sopranos, but I can 100% guarantee The Wire is better.

Great show. I still say The Wire is the greatest show of all-time. I might put Breaking Bad over this.

Can someone explain though why people and critics acclaim this as the greatest show of all time?

- Gandolfini acted his ass off. Wasn't really a fan of Tony. Found him to be self-centered and shortfused. Carmela stuck with his BS. I rooted for Walter White more.

- Dr. Melfi and Junior were my favorite characters. I have a thing for intelligent good looking women. I'm glad they didn't go the cliche route of her and Tony sleeping. She was the only person who would tell Tony how it was. Junior just killed me with his one liners that senile fukk lmao

- Silvio was close to being there and this might seem odd but that one scene where he punched that stripper in the face just wasn't necessary. It's why I didn't like Paulie as much anymore after he killed the old lady and the waiter

- The character I hated the most. Ralphie was a second

- I liked the character of Phil Leotardo. I would've liked to seen more dilemma in the streets kinda like with Phil-Tony instead of everything leading to handshakes and percentages lol

- How did AJ go from being a chubby cute kid to whiney as hell? Meadow was the same throughout

Now what the hell was that ending about? lol. I'm gonna take a shot and say the guy in the bathroom killed him? If so, the beef was squashed, who ordered it and why?

One grating thing was his c*nty wife and kids. I wanted to smack AJ into Bolivia. Same thing pissed me off in GTA 5 with the fat kid.

I enjoy it in the same ways i enjoyed sons of anarchy. shyt was over the top entertainment...like most hbo shows falls apart the last couple years. But if prison type shyt interests you, you dont mind some scenes give it a try. Plus, JK Simmons is fukking fantastic as always

once again, maybe I spoke too soon. And with tv shows, sometimes in retrospect I might not know which season is which, whereas with the Wire I knew as it was broken into specific topics, however I can almost confidently say the 5th season of Breaking Bad was better than any season on its own of The Sopranos.

however, the characters overall on the Sopranos I enjoyed more than Breaking Bad

Season 5 was great with Tony B and those old timers coming back. They should’ve had more screen time

I did a Sopranos re-watch about 5 years ago.

I’m currently doing Breaking Bad, and I’m interpreting things a lot differently now as an older man.

I can’t get into The Wire.
