There needs to be a balance between protecting artists (in this case I’m referring to Sting) and not stifling the creativity of other artists (Juice Planet).

For decades now a large part of music has been sampling. Sometimes it’s very creative ( :havdahell: )in this instance it’s not.

In 96 the idea of Nas rapping over a Sting sample was pretty out there, but this song is not creative.

Still, they need to change the laws. Artists should be able to take what they want and the sampled artist should get a set percentage. For something like this, Sting should get half. For something where there are multiple samples at work, all the samples artists should split 50%.

Naw, some samples demand a higher percentage

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Let’s be real, he never thought it would blow up like it did

So he was

:manny:

There’s also a good chance he didn’t realize it had a sample in it
Which is why it wouldve been easy to clear that shyt. Lol. Cause Sting wouldnt have had a gauge on how popular the song wouldve gotten. This is how nikkas get fukked over. Once u dont clear a sample. The person u sampled can ask for ANYTHING they want. And if the song is successful. They high ball the fukk outta u.

Mobb these cats lazy, they need to learn how to hide these samples better if they gonna use them and not clear them.
Personally if you take something I created without my permission and profit off it, i'm coming for everything.
If producers come through the correct channels then artist sampled should get a flat rate paid for by the labels
