Leonsis doesn’t have the money to buy the Nationals and would be a greater disaster than he is now with the Wizards and low key the Capitals.

You know Ted would pay Soto though

But yes he doesn’t have the bread. David Rubenstein and him would lead a group in their bid.

The rumors folk have said that if they’re successful, Laurene Powell Jobs would assume majority control of Monumental’s basketball properties, with Leonsis focusing on real estate, betting, Caps, and Nats.

Powell Jobs has 20% stake in MSE. She’s basically next in line.

Theoretically SHE could buy all of MSE and the Nationals herself since she’s worth like $20B.

nikka 440M IS 440M...

DUDE ISNT THINKING ABOUT
THE LONG GAME....

YOU WANT 35M A YR NOW
OR 29M A YR AT 36, 37, 38 YRS OLD?

He's probably gonna get close to $400M for ten years from someone else. Then he'd be 33 and get a brand new deal. He'll end up gettn way more than $440M by the time he's 39-years old

Nobody knows how much these people really have, could have had his money stashed, and leveraged, with well performing PE or HF.
Forbes doesn't know those type of things, they mostly mostly estimate the value of your public holdings or things that have had public reporting.

Other than that, it not unthinkable that he'd lead a group consisting of some finance guys to purchase it

I don’t care about Forbes. Leonsis doesn’t have the money to buy the Nats on his own.

Didn’t even offer him 30 mill a year. Of course he’s turning that down. 2 1/2 seasons away from free agency. He’s going to get 500 mill and probably 40+ mill a year from somebody. No need to rush to trade him if you’re the Nats. Especially during a down season when he’s hitting .250 & Vice versa.

The kid really wants to stay in DC

The Lerners are so twisted. They’re selling the team and trying to sabotage this contract before the purchase goes through. Whoever the new ownership group is, if Soto is still there, I think a deal gets done before his FA.

The owners should be in by Winter Meetings.

There’s no trading a Juan Soto.

You’re his imaginary son, people identify as whatever they want nowadays :manny:
You realize your entire premise is based on the imagined—and very illegal—belief that Leonsis is hiding a few billion dollars he can use to buy the Nationals? Do yourself a favor and think Like an adult. He would have to disclose those hidden billions and then what?
