The Nationals are right to look at trade offers now.

If they are not going to sign him they need to move him now while his value is highest. Because he won’t bring back many good prospects the longer you wait.

If the Nationals just hang on and think they will trade him next year, no team will give them a top prospect. Because the closer Soto gets to free agency the less likely he’s going to sign an extension with any team that trades for him.

Washington needs to give him a 30M per year deal or they need to trade him now (and blow up the rest of the roster because if you won’t build around Soto you damn sure ain’t building around anyone else on the roster.)

The kid really wants to stay in DC

The Lerners are so twisted. They’re selling the team and trying to sabotage this contract before the purchase goes through. Whoever the new ownership group is, if Soto is still there, I think a deal gets done before his FA.

The owners should be in by Winter Meetings.

There’s no trading a Juan Soto.
Not even for Haniger, Kecelnic, and 2 prospects? :lupe:

I wish you could trade draft picks in baseball. No one should give up a future ace for this guy.

even if you could, baseball picks are a complete crapshoot

Too many busts get drafted in the first round because they’re drafted too early. To eliminate some of that, after college they should play independently and develop in the minors for at least 2 years A, AA and for those who decide to stay in the minors an extra season in AAA, then have a draft out of the AAA players and players that declared early after AA season, more players will be ready to play as soon as they get drafted, treat the minors like an extended college league. I know Baseball players also play/get drafted out of college but they aren’t developed as the other sports when they get drafted. MLB should also eliminate the 7 year team control BS and cut it down to 4 and do like the NBA does with restricted free agency and also your original team being able to offer you the most money but owners will never agree to that.

The new ownership is on the way and they want this resolved before they take over one way or another. So I say if the Yankees aren't going to resign Judge, then by all means send miner leaguers from the form system on over and get the deal done.

The Yankees don’t have the balls to make that kind of move. Trading away or not extending Judge would be a PR disaster.

I’m not sure if Soto gets traded at the deadline if prospective owners want him on the team hoping they can sign. I think Soto is traded if new ownership can’t sign him imo
