Yes, because the Grizzlies entire game plan defensively was to leave Jrue wide open and use his man to roam and send hard doubles at Tatum/Brown

It was a great plan, they gambled on Jrue to make them pay and he didn’t, and they were able to disrupt the Celtics rhythm in the process. Was one of the uglier, sloppier nights offensively we had all season

Despite all that were still in the game at the end. Good luck beating this team 4 out of 7 :manny:

Plus wasn't it your 5th game in 7 games?

The strategy worked well for us (despite Bane and Smart having bad nights). On another night Jrue scores 5 3s in a row and punishes us.

Plus, Pritchard just couldn't miss :mjtf:

Real question is realistically when is this shīt going to end?

It won't.

There is no segregation of schools. To create the gateway for the blacktop meets grassroots player.
Sohh this white boi luxury country club weak ass bullshyt will keep going.

Basketball is literally losing all semblance of having soul.

And you can't bench Jrue that much, he's an excellent defender and good facilitator.

If he's open he has to make his shots.

Another day, the Celtics win.

Storm in a teacup.

It's not a good/bad thing. It's just a natural occurence in hoops - role player has a game where he attempts an outlier of shots. As it's been pointed out in here, Memphis forced Jrue to beat them, rather than have the likes of Tatum shoot. Jrue was open on the vast majority of these shots, and Boston encourages their players to shoot if they're open.

Would this thread have been made if he took 17 midrange attempts instead? If your answer is no, what does that tell you?

Huh? He shoots midrange at a higher percentage....that's not the same thing.

He's shooting 33% from 3 this year. In no way he should be taking 17 attempts. That's not winning basketball and it showed

Came in here to say this. If your playing the celtics you want Jrue to take 17 3s every game :manny:

If he make over 33% one of those nights so be it

They're shooting 37% from behind the arc this season. That's pretty damn efficent, even more so when you consider the volume. They're coming off a title and are the best team in the league with this style of play, so I'm not entirely surely why them having an off-shooting night deserves a thread.

No team shoots well every game.

OP has even admitted he hasn't watched any NBA this season, so this thread is no more than some box score stat watching confirmation bias.
That's exactly the point. When your jumpshot isn't falling one way, you look for another way to get going - try to get the line, get an easy layup, etc...You don't John Starks your way out of it.

Bad nights happen

It’s an 82 game season, no team’s offense is just gonna be on point every night. The Celtics will be fine

We (Memphis) protect the paint very well. With all due respect, we not worried about Jrue driving to the hoop. It's the Jays we were mostly concerned about.

In a 7 games series between the two teams, Mazzoula adds some wrinkles to the offense and Jrue doesn't just chuck 3s. It was just a a regular season game loss... Celtics are still a top team.
