He was probably also drawn to the Jordy Peterson trope of "wOmAn/FeMeNiniTy = cHAos" thing as well.

The fact that he's somehow seen as a moderate figure still blows my mind.

I gotta come back to this.

It starts off as "women are chaos".

Then it turns into women shouldn't wear red lipstick because it's their fault it makes men think of sex

Hey you know what? Women and men shouldn't work together either. That sounds like a good idea.

And while we're at it, forced monogamy also sounds like a pretty good idea too

Watching people fall through Jordy's rabbit hole is both fascinating and scary.

I had a message typed up that I deleted as a response to your first message and you feel how I feel.

Fascinating but scary is accurate. What’s even more worrisome is there are many people like him in other domains. If you’re a great orator and speak to the needs of your audience they’ll be bound to you.

Since he is in the news for a couple reasons recently, let us remember:

Wow! Sometimes I feel like a production study is mixing scripted content within our real lives.

It's not that surprising. Tate is one of the kings of the manosphere, Peterson is the manosphere's intellectual prophet, and Peterson's daughter is, um, well, a woman of chaos.

Jordy is probably shedding some tears for Tate as I type this hehe.

It's also worth noting that Jordy took a little time out of his day to shyt shyt on Greta thunberg in the past. guess She should clean her room or something instead of being an activist.

It's so fukking ridiculous how he's chosen to insert himself into every damn debate no matter how little he knows on the subject. Climate change, black civil rights, Covid, the business workplace, politics, multiculturalism, quantum physics, archeology, nutrition, he's demonstrated incredible ignorance on all those subjects and yet preaches definitive statements to the public that every expert in the field says are rubbish. I don't think Greta Thunberg is any sort of expert or authority on science, but I'd bet anything she's spent more time studying climate change than Peterson has spent studying any of those fields in any serious manner.

Hell, even in the fields he HAS studied in some sort of depth that are just a little bit outside his actual field (like child psychology, anthropology, and critical theory), the actual experts in the field say he's speaking compete rubbish. Peterson's status as an expert witness in child custody cases has been challenged in court because he knows so little about child psychology, and there are plenty of essays online showing that he seems either not to have understood the framers of critical theory to any degree or possibly to not have even read them, but only the commentators on them.

I just checked his twitter out of boredom as I tend to do once every couple months.

His recent retweets include H. Pearl Davis celebrating her 1,000,000th follower and Andy Ngo hyping Black nationalist crime because....unclear?

He's also doing a lot of mocking of climate change, including laughing at a story that climate refugees will lead to more women being stuck in situation of domestic violence....because I guess he thinks only good things happen when you upend society and force people out of their homes and safety nets?

But 90% of his output is either bytching about his dispute with the Ontario College of Psychologists (who think he needs to undergo some sort of sensitivity training due to non-professional public comments) or getting in fights with randoms on Twitter about it.

Combination of corporate money, clout chasing and mental illness.

Video I posted above is JP and his daughter discussing their family history of mental illness. Jordan Peterson was also diagnosed with schizophrenia before he went to coma rehab in Russia.

If his rise to fame was dramatic, what has happened since he disappeared from public view 18 months ago sounds fantastical — in his daughter’s words it is “like a horror movie”. A movie in which her father gets hooked on benzodiazepines, becomes suicidal, is hospitalised for his own safety and then diagnosed with schizophrenia. Against his doctors’ advice she flies him to Russia to be placed in an induced coma. He emerges delirious, unable to walk, and ricochets from one rehab centre to another, ending up in a Serbian clinic where he contracts Covid-19. Back home in Canada at last, from where he speaks to me earlier this month, he breaks down in floods of tears and has to leave the room. When I ask if he feels angry with himself for taking benzodiazepines, his daughter jumps in, arms waving — “Hold on, hold on!” — and tries to bring the interview to a close.
On another psychiatrist’s advice he quit the drug and started taking ketamine, but cold turkey sent him into benzodiazepine withdrawal. Another psychiatrist, a family friend, told him to resume the benzodiazepine and check into a rehab clinic to help wean him back off it slowly. After six weeks in rehab in Connecticut he was in a worse state than ever, still on the benzodiazepine plus now additional drugs, unable to stop pacing or writhing with agitation. Frightened he would kill himself, Peterson transferred to a public hospital in Toronto in November, where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The hospital wanted to treat him with electroconvulsive therapy, but Mikhaila and her family were having none of it. “It’s not like we’re uneducated in these things, right?” she says. “We kept telling them, no, the problem was his medication. But they wouldn’t listen to us. So we started calling rehab clinics around the world. We rang 57 of them. And this one place in Russia was, like, ‘Yeah, we do detox.’ So we thought, what do we do? It’s got to be dangerous because no one else will do it. But my family agreed, let’s give it a shot.”

Peterson said interview was a hitjob and released a full recording where his daughter apparently says to the interviewer he was 'misdiagnosed' with schizophrenia. I didn't waste my time listening to that but I saw this comment

I listend to more of his speech. He isn't wrong because he's talking about Western civilization. You want to understand how we work and think, start with the bible. Cultural relativism 101. What confuses me is he says ethics cannot be derived facts because there are far too many facts in the universe for us to account for (highly debatable but whatever).....therefore objectivity isn't achievable.....wtf has this crackhead been talking about these last 20 years?

Anyways, saying in round about way that religion can be a focus point for soft truths that we can't empirically justify....like Nietzsche said but this time a non believer is actually defending religion. Cocaine is a hell of drug

@Fillerguy do you have a link to his full speech you are referring to?
