Jordan Peterson is very intelligent in his domain, which is psychology and maybe even sociology.
The problem with him is that he brings that same level of confidence he has in clinical psychology and applies it to other domains he is absolutely not an expert on, like climate change.

Narrow it further. His expertise is clinical psychology.

When it comes to broader psychology and sociology he says loads of dumb shyt.

I'm virtually certain he's not a Christian at all. I've seen his type before among both Jews and atheists, including people I knew personally. They're always snobbish intellectual right-wingers who are condescending towards belief in Jesus as God and feel like they're personally above it, but generally agree with conservative Christians culturally and think the masses need something like that to keep them in line.

The best they could do for "formidable scholar" is a radio talk show host who makes online propaganda videos for the right.

Initial promise that he was going to stop tweeting was after that Sports Illustrated model tweet, but he kept on tweeting through that.

Then later on he got suspended for his Ellen/Elliot Page tweet. He only did that so he could drum up some publicity for his Daily Wire move. Before that he tried to pull a stunt by quitting University of Toronto tenured position, but it didn't have much juice since it's hard to cry 'cancellation' when you quit on your own.
