JOKER movie might be the worst thing to happen to DCEU

They are

Not gonna happen overnight, nor will they abandon currently successful movies like wonder woman and aquaman, but they are clearly moving towards stand alone movies that are contained in their own universe.

You will see more movies like joker that stand on their own, and less movies that share a universe going forward. Eventually the shared universe will be phased out entirely unless some miracle happens and the public perception of DC movies changes.


I'll even go as far as to say the next batman movies will not be apart of the DCEU. Superman might not get another movie for a while. Wonder woman will be part of the DCEU but will make no mention of any of the other movies, which is probably why they are setting it in the past and not the present.

WB suits said they're done trying to connect their movies and going back to standalone movies in multiple interviews

What they said was they aren't doing the forced connected universe thing like at Marvel where almost every movie is a team-up movie of sorts but instead will allow filmmakers to use what they want from the rest of the DCEU in their movies and if a movie works better being it's own separate thing then they'll allow that too.
But Shazam, Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Aquaman, Birds of Prey etc. are all in the same movie universe.
