Johnny Depp vs. Leonardo DiCaprio: Who's the better actor?

it's hard to say who is actually better talent wise, but leo picks roles that allow you to see him seriously acting, and depp picks gimmicky roles that let you focus on the costume and weirdness. i imagine if you put both of them in the same move together, and made it a serious drama, depp could do just as good as leo.

still, judging by actual work done, i have to pick leo

Ha! i forgot about that one, but playing a mentally challenged child is kinda hard to compare with depp's character. ironically, that situation reverses the condition of depp being the one with the stunt character and leo being the one with a more subtle character.

i would like to see them compete in something that doesnt have the same kind of strong character like that. just two relatively normal characters that favor subtly instead of mimicry.

I honestly cant believe nikkas is shyttin on Depp this way...smh...cause the nikka likes to transform himself he's a gimmick?..Tim Burton writes those roles specifically for Johnny...and they are best friends...its not like thats ALL hes ever done in his career...put it like this...if BOTH was to get picked for a broadway role...which is a TRUE test for acting talent...who do u think would do better?..who do u think would have the versitility to pull it off?..if u pick anything but Depp u trippin..dude can pull off a musical or anything thrown at him....and I think Leo is a great actor...but playing serious roles all the time doesn't make u a better actor...
