Exactly. Shonda Rhimes got the keys to the kingdom and chose to tell stories she wants to tell, specifically those about strong women or strong black women calling the shots. He gets the keys to the kingdom and wants to continue the fukkery. I'm not even saying there's no place for the fukkery because Empire is popping and that thread was, at times, the highlight of my week, but when you get your foot in the door, you get the chance to do something different. They ask YOU what do YOU want to do and since you've already proven you know how to make money for them, they're going to say yes to whatever you want because you got the power

And that's the worst part to me.

It's always the same type of people who be on some "black people are more than this, more than that, we're not just sports drugs and entertainment, we're just as complex, we have stories to tell too", but when they get the shot, they shovel the same shyt.

Like I said, Shonda Rhimes shows aren't for me, and I don't watch them, but she gets Queen status from me for what's she's doing up at ABC. I just wanna meet her and shake her hand.

ABC: Thanks for Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, what do you wanna do next? :feedme:

Shonda: :sas1: A show about a black woman running a high-level political crisis management firm... Oh, and then a show about a black female college professor... :sas2:

ABC: :ld: Both?

Shonda:  Both.

ABC: :mjcry: A'ight.

Exactly! And because she's got them in the palm of her hand and continues to have them in the palm of her hand, she's got a whole night to herself and they can't say no to anything she suggests

Not saying it won't be interesting ........ but cotdamn ..... its like this is the thrust of the modern African American identity .... like nothing else matters ... music, sports, slavery, and contraband ... the African American experience :snoop:

Where is the Madame C.J. Walker series...that would be crazy dope (damh) ... first black female millionaire (maybe first black overall) ........
Where is the George Washington Carver movie, negro making 100s of products out of cotdamn peanuts.... and all the strife he more than likely went through ...
Where is the black guy that went to the North Pole movie way back when
Etc .....
knowitimsayin smh
fukkin sad

What would be cool is hell is if they had something like a Black netflix and it produced its own independent black films and miniseries. For a small fee of 7.99 per month. Call it "BlackIndieFlix" or just "BlackFlix"
Yeah that would be cool. Only downside is that Netflix has massive amounts of money. Unless the owners of Blackflix have integrity they will sell that shyt in like 5 seconds

Hold up... is the show going to have "cool" undertones where we start saying shyt like "Yo...that was hot!"

Or is it going to be our version of a much needed 80's crack epidemic Schindler's list which shows the unapologetic genocide of our communities?

I don't want to see any cool action figure like characters a la Omar from the wire.

I want the mini series to be uncomfortable to watch.
It should be like The Corner

Hope Singleton depicts how Reagan:devil: spearheaded the whole Crack epidemic by being in cahoots with the Contra:whistle: But, most likely Showtime will let him edit that out:leostare::mjpls:

A show about a 60's advertising firm. That's it. High ratings and too many Emmy awards to count.

A show about hackers, mental illness and other shyt that doesn't involve busting guns and moving dope. Hottest TV show to come out this year.

It's not impossible to make compelling, quality television that doesn't involve cliched stereotypes. But at the end of the day, it's on the viewers. We need to demand variety and quality. Cats be on some "I'm just happy to be here" shyt when a predominately black show comes out. Power is trash. Empire is trash. Ballers is kinda trash. They're all entertaining, but they're not all that good. I cringe when I see nikkas call them the best shows on TV. The greatest TV show of all time is a predominately black show. Yeah, there was drugs and violence in that show but it's probably the best social study I've seen in the fiction format. Let's have some standards and sooner or later those standards will be met.
