Exactly. Shonda Rhimes got the keys to the kingdom and chose to tell stories she wants to tell, specifically those about strong women or strong black women calling the shots. He gets the keys to the kingdom and wants to continue the fukkery. I'm not even saying there's no place for the fukkery because Empire is popping and that thread was, at times, the highlight of my week, but when you get your foot in the door, you get the chance to do something different. They ask YOU what do YOU want to do and since you've already proven you know how to make money for them, they're going to say yes to whatever you want because you got the power
And that's the worst part to me.
It's always the same type of people who be on some "black people are more than this, more than that, we're not just sports drugs and entertainment, we're just as complex, we have stories to tell too", but when they get the shot, they shovel the same shyt.
Like I said, Shonda Rhimes shows aren't for me, and I don't watch them, but she gets Queen status from me for what's she's doing up at ABC. I just wanna meet her and shake her hand.
ABC: Thanks for Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, what do you wanna do next?
Shonda: A show about a black woman running a high-level political crisis management firm... Oh, and then a show about a black female college professor...
ABC: Both?
Shonda: Both.
ABC: A'ight.
